update on today's test etc...
not good news. i failed the 3 hr. i have to see the dietician soon and lots of other things.
im measuring way too large and i have to have a follow up u/s in 3 weeks for her heart and for the measuring too large.
im very upset today... i thought having gestational diabetes just meant a risk of having a larger baby and testing my sugars daily...um nope
risk of breathing problems at birth
low blood sugar for baby
possibly too much amniotic fluid (might be why im measuring 6 weeks ahead)
not only that, but near the end i have to have multiple non stress tests and biophysical profiles. its just a lot of information to digest right now.
the test itself wasnt as bad on me as last time. i didnt throw up and only got ligthteaded and sick to my tummy , so i thought i had passed it, but nope.
oh one more thing, if the diet/exercise plan doesnt work, i have to do injections, no oral medication. sucks!
i dont think the diet plan will be bad on me, its the planning meals/shopping that's going to be a pain but i will do whatever i have to do to try and have a healthy baby.
please say a prayer for us or ++ thoughts. thanks.

Re: update on today's test etc...
With Evann I had excessive amniotic fluid too- so much that when the OB broke my water it got her all wet and she had to change lol. I hope you dont have to go to the extreme with the treatment- you know where to find me girlie =)

Oh, I'm so sorry! (((Hugs))) I'm sure it's a lot to take in right now, but hopefully it won't be as bad as it initially seems. Praying for you!

Re: update on today's test etc...
So sorry about that news Lisa. I hope that you are able to get it under control with the diet and exercise so that you don't have to move on to injections. If there is a bright side to look at, it's that you don't have to do it for long.
At least the NST's and U/S's aren't uncomfortable. With my first I had to have NST's every week, sometimes twice a week due to my HBP (way back then they didn't give you meds to control it - but that was 22 years ago). It was boring at the worst, to just lay there with a monitor on my belly.
Keep us posted as you find out more.

Re: update on today's test etc...
I'm sorry you didn't pass. I thought that it just meant a bigger baby too - I had no idea you had to jump through all the extra hoops. I hope you are able to control it with diet and exercise though so maybe it won't be such a big deal.

Re: update on today's test etc...
Im sorry you didn't pass. Glad you managed through it.
Once you get into a routine, it wont be bad at all. A lot to comprehend at first but itll get easier and its only for a short period of time. You can do it.
You can rest during the NST (yet boring but at least you have piece and quiet) and see your baby at the u/s...so thats not bad at all.

Re: update on today's test etc...
I am so sorry you didn't pass, I know nothing about GD or what it means when you are told you have it, all I do know is it's not easy and I wish you all the best, it's only for a little while longer.
I hope also that the baby isn't too big so you don't have to have a c-sec (unless that's what you were planing) I just hope that the time goes by fast for you and that the baby is as healthy as possible for you!

Re: update on today's test etc...
I'm sorry to hear that but wanted to say I've had a few friends with GD and they have all had healthy, normal babies. I know what a pain it is though, we've had a lot of food allergy issues over here so I definitely know about meal planning etc and its a huge pain but you adapt.
