Icon10 Tax season!!!

I know this sounds weird but this has to be my favorite holiday of the entire year!!!!!
We filed our taxes on Sat and got all our paperwork back that night and took the signed papers in today and should get our taxes back within the next two weeks. I won't say exactly how much we are getting back but it is almost $200 more than last year and the child taxes alone are over $2500 and that's not even half of our return this year!!! I am so excited!!!!
We were stressed because our car that we have now seats 6 but we can't safely seat 4 car seats so we have to get a bigger vehicle, we have been wondering how we were going to get it and now we can!!! We have been looking at the Chevy Taho and the Suburban, I love both but may have to go for the mini-van I don't like vans but we may be able to save a little on gas if we get a van, but at least we have options now that we didn't before!

I just thought I would share, I LOVE TAXES!!!!!

I wish I could look forward to tax season. I use to when it was just me cause I always got a little something in return. But now I don't work and my husband has his own business, so we actually owe the IRS every year. It's such an ugly cloud over our head. Not to mention we had one accountant screw us over so bad. They did our taxes, but their little retard (whoever sends the info to the IRS) didn't push the "send" button. So they filed late and we got hit with all of the crazy late fees which were enormous. We spent so much money just trying to get by and also take care of the taxes that we couldn't even afford to sue the accountant if we wanted to. At this point my d/h has decided to just "let it go" but it gets me fuming everytime I think about it.

Anyhow...so I can't lie...I'm envious of those of you who actually get some money back : ). I hope you can get that nice big truck you've been eyeing!

I wouldnt say I love tax season but I always end up getting back a nice amount so thats cool. Funny thing is I really dont know much about doing my taxes. My parents are CPA's so they have always handled it for me! I need to start payng more attention to it!
But whenever I hear stories like that about bad scuzzy accountants it pisses me off to! because my parents are such good people who would never ever do something like that!! I hope at the very least you reported them to the better business bureau!!

Yay! That's great you will be able to get a bigger vehicle for your family! I'm so happy for you. I love tax season too. DH and I usually get a pretty good amount back and next year we will get a child tax credit for the first time, so that's something to look forward to.

I LOVE tax season! I'm so in it right now. I am an accountant and it's the super bowl for us. I filed mine way back so I'm getting my return Feb 1. A nice chunk and the maximum I could get. Remember, you only get back what you put in.

I do tax returns on the side from my regular accounting job. I love filing other people's and getting it out of here. I also like getting them bigger returns. It's like doing homework and getting an A.

Anyways, to solve the self employment problem.. try sending in quarterly payments to IRS. Basically you need to send roughly 15% to IRS. People who aren't self employed have roughly 7.5% taken out per paycheck and then their employer pays 7.5%.. hence the 15%. Self employed people generally don't take out anything the whole year and have to pay both "halves" themselves which is why they feel the pinch at tax season. Some people also don't like getting a huge refund since it's basically the government having your money and it doesn't earn interest on it the whole year so they try to come out even. Just change your W4 and have them take out more taxes by lowering your exemptions. You can get more info from the IRS website at IRS.gov and order a free book to help you do your taxes called "Publication 17". Has lots of info for questions you might have, the tax table in the back and on the IRS website you can find a listing of websites where you can efile for free! I hate where I work during tax season, that they charge people $200 on their simple returns when they could easily do it themselves for FREE. I feel such guilt doing that. I do returns on the side myself mostly for free and next year I'm going to volunteer with this organization that sends people out to do returns free.

I love tax season!

I LOVE our tax guy, he only charges us $40 to do the fast return (direct deposit) and he always gets us the max for our tax bracket- low income.
I don't know what I am going to do when he is gone, he was diagnosed a few years ago with a medical problem I don't remember the name of so I will be sad when he leaves us we have gone to him for 6 years together as a couple and Dh and his parents have gone to him forever, he is the only one who has ever done Dh's taxes!
