My parents drove down (200+ mi.) to watch Kiley at cheer tonight, and while here, gave my DH and I our anniversary card/gift. (We were married 13yrs on May 6
) Guess what?!!! They're buying us a new washer and dryer!!! That is WAY over and above anything they've ever done for us gift-wise before. We were both totally blown away! They said to pick out what we'd like and get it delivered ASAP (so we have them to use) - all on them! WOW! It's a "combined" anniversary/baby gift, but knowing my mom, the baby won't be doing without something else as well.
Anyway...I'm so siked! I hadn't washed baby clothes, bedding, etc. yet because I needed my DH to give the washer a really good cleaning requiring strong "elbow grease" and, um, a belly not in the way. Cloth diapering was pretty much out as well since our dryer takes at least two cycles to dry one load and we're not allowed to line dry where we live. We've had those machines since spring of 1996 and were trying to make them last until the beginning of next year...that's a pretty long haul for any washer/dryer...but especially ones used by a big family. Now we don't have to put it off! I'm so excited...I just had to share! Now I can go back to drooling over cloth dipes, too. hehe

Yea...we'll be getting heavy duty, big ones for sure. I'm letting my DH research. We won't go with the priciest knowing someone else is buying them; I could never do that. I'm just still in shock that they're doing this for us. It's certainly not their norm nor was it expected in the least...not even slightly. They were down here a couple of weeks ago and my mom had a couple of things she needed to throw in the dryer when my DH and I were out. It took forever for them to dry, hence this conclusion I guess. When my younger bro and SIL got married, they got my parents' almost brand new machines (my parents were building a house and getting new everything), so maybe they figured it's our turn now? I'm not complaining nor questioning it...just really thankful!
