Default Still No Baby Here...Just Prodromal Labor...

...guess I wasn't meant to be left out of "the fun" after all. I never obviously had this with any of my others. I dilated weeks in advance but didn't really feel it. Well...I'm still having contractions...the ones that really began to be bothersome Thurs night. Some have gotten hard and I have to breathe through them a bit. There's still no consistency though...no show...etc. Just lots of feeling crampy, low back pressure and waiting and wondering. My DH got a kick out of feeling my belly get hard and then soften earlier.

I saw my midwife yesterday and baby has dropped since last week (if that's possible since I've carried so low this entire pregnancy) and is engaged (no head movement). S/he's still anterior but turned the other way...great position for birth! DTD didn't make things pick up the past couple of nights, so I just continue to clean and prepare (er...nest like a loon), which is driving my DH kinda nuts!

If you would, please keep my LO and me in your thoughts/prayers. S/he's gotta actually come out sometime. My kids keep waking up disappointed every morning that we're still babyless. I'd be fine waiting a little longer (EDD isn't until Wed anyway) if it weren't for these drawn-out ctx and cramps. All in all, though, baby will come when s/he's ready!

Well that baby just listened a little too well when you told it not to come out until after the recital!
I do hope things start soon for you.
I've been having uncomfy contractions intermittently for the last 8 days...nothing like with Angelina. Our bodies/babies are just trying to keep things spicy I guess.

Ugh! I know how you feel. I was fine with waiting till my scheduled c-section date too but that cramping and false labor stuff is a real pain in the rear! I will never miss that! But you're right...s/he will be here really soon! It just doesn't probably seem like it right now! Keeping you guys in my thoughts and prayers that it will be sooner rather than later and that your L&D goes smoothly and quickly!

How am I feeling today? ~and~ ...Thanks for asking, but ya probably don't want to know. I'm crampy and crabby and ginormously pregnant...and don't want to be alone today. However, I have no choice in the matter.

The thing is, I honestly expected to go to my EDD or past and was ok w/it and know it's to be expected since I'm not an induction, etc...so it's not so much that. It was just a very trying and exhausting weekend with the prodromal junk and my DH is about to leave for work until 11pm, with a long work week ahead (instead of all of us here as a family enjoying our new baby). My oldest son, the one who definitely 'knows better' and gets that mom feels like crud, is being Mr. Attitude and I just don't have it in me today... Just momentarily, I wish my parents lived closer and could take the kids for awhile today. However, they usually come back from there acting out, so that probably wouldn't be so great in hindsight.

I'm really excited about homebirth, yet I personally wouldn't want to have an unplanned UC home alone with four kids with not even one friendly/helpful neighbor. There's nobody close to rely on. I have an aunt, who's very skeptical of HB and not reliable, about 20-25min away...if I could even get ahold of her. My DH will be a good 40-45min away, my parents are 3.5hrs away, and my midwife is 35ish min away...and that's all in moving traffic. If anything happens at rush hour...forget it! I know from three past experiences that if my water breaks, I'll go very quickly and be in intense pain very fast. Ugh... I wouldn't be able to be an effective mommy then for sure. Ah...such lovely visions going through my head now... Real healthy, I know.

Hopefully when real labor actually does start, my DH will be home. At that point, all will be fine. I just don't want him going to work now...

Hopefully you get to feeling better and less stressed.

The good thing is, unplanned UCs are quite safe, just because of the nature of how they work. Gregory White talks about it in Emergency Childbirth it's nothing the average 6 year old couldn't handle alone! I know it wouldn't be ideal, but a birth THAT quick is very unlikely and in the event it happens, well, at least it was over with quickly, right?

Here's to praying for a non-rush-hour baby!!

Thanks for the prayers - I'm grateful for all I get...I cannot imagine my DH missing this. (I would be devastated!) I know the two of us could and would handle an emergency UC. My midwife is calm and collected, too - "Just keep mom and baby warm" However, my girls seeing mama in that state without another adult there would not be good...and my boys would likely freeze and just call daddy.

As for history, my second DS came very quickly post rupture. I know all too well how intense that can be. I couldn't have "mommy'ed" in that state -- hard ctx one on top of the other. That said, nothing would be any different were I planning a hospital birth since I wouldn't drive myself to a hospital with four kids like that -- too unsafe for all of us! Hopefully none of this will be an issue. After my fast labor and birth with my second, I had a 22hr one with my third. I didn't have prodromal labor though. Once the ctx started, they gradually picked up throughout the day and got intense overnight; she was born the next morning. No rupture until she was crowning.

I really do still have my head-on...or at least I usually do. I just have no clue what my body's doing this time and it's driving me bonkers. No consistency in birthing here.
