So, that is a contraction?
So last night the nurse strapped the heart tone monitors and the contraction thingy on me. They usually don't put it on me. Well, she comes in and is like you are having contractions and they are pretty close. She went to call my dr. She came back and they had slowed and then eventually stopped. My dr said since they weren't painful he wasn't worried. I have never had a contraction and it wasn't what I imagined. You see on tv women doubling over and crying in pain. Mine was just tightening and ALOT of pressure on my bottom. I really thought it was the babies moving putting pressure on stuff. It was extremely annoying, but I would not say it hurt though. So at least now I know what they feel like for future references!! BTW my dd was a scheduled c/s and the one before was an emergency c/s so i have not felt a contraction before!!

Re: So, that is a contraction?
When I went into the hospital for an elective induction with Ava they strapped me to a monitor before they did anything else and asked how long I had been having contractions. I said that I hadn't had any - well it turns out I was having rather long ones every 3 minutes and didn't even realize it! Mine didn't hurt at all until they broke my water

Lucky that they stopped and that they weren't painful. I am glad that you can hold on to the babies a little longer, I get regular bh ctx and some are pretty painful but they don't do anything to my cervix.
When do you find out when you deliver?

Re: So, that is a contraction?
My ob made the call today that as far as he is concerned we will deliver at 34 weeks if I hang in there that long. Of course the 4 perinatologists will have their conference call Monday night. So, he will see what their recommendation is and go from there. My uterus is measuring pretty large and b/c of my past abruption and the risk of rupture from my classical incision, he thinks it is best not to go over 34 weeks.

Re: So, that is a contraction?
wow that's in like 2 weeks! Yay! I'm glad that they are thinking that you can go to 34w, that is great for twins!
I will keep you in my prayers that you don't have the abruption, those are never good.

Re: So, that is a contraction?
Yeah, in my experience it doesn't really hurt at first. It usually gets bad around the time after your water has broken and they get so intense. I remember thinking that wasn't so bad when I was first in labor with my son but hours later, it was BAD. I get to a point where I want the epi. Happened in both of my labors. On the monitor it tells you the intensity. When they are short "mountains" it wasn't so bad for me.. it was when it was those huge spikes that yes, I was in a lot of pain and that was towards the give me drugs moments.
No matter how much or how little pain you feel, you will make it through it and have a beautiful baby in the end.

Re: So, that is a contraction?
Not that much longer now...2 weeks!!! Glad they are watching you closely. Good time for twins also.
With Isaac I woke up with nasty 2-3 minute contractions, so I knew it was labor (6cm). But with Carson, it took a good 45 minutes after my water broke at home to start to feel them, although they were already happening. Never felt a thing until those 45 min were up, lol. I was totally surprised (and was 7cm at the time) when they said I was having them when I wasnt feeling them at all.
KUP!!!

Re: So, that is a contraction?
OMG I must be a wimp, I thought I was dying when I had contractions with my last child!!! I seriously have never felt pain like that in my entire life, it was so excruciating. I was screaming and moaning like a wild animal. I wish I didn't even notice them, wow that is amazing!! This time I am hoping for an epidural so I don't have to go through that again.

Re: So, that is a contraction?
they usualy dont hurt in the beginning, but when they are the real deal and you are about to deliver, they are the worst pain imaginable!!
So no Monica, you are NOT a wimp!
