The day you deliver, outside will be warm. Your baby will arrive in the evening. After a labor lasting approximately 5 hours, your child, a girl, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 8 pounds, 15 ounces, and will be 17-1/2 inches long. This child will have blue eyes and dark hair.
I just had my apt. a few hours ago, and we talked about BH. I let them know I was having sometimes one or two an hour, and then other days I was having 10 total for the day. The doctor said that the number per day can go up and down. There is no concern and no reason to think anything else unless they are coming at regular intervals (timable) and increase in frequency. Then it can be considered possibly actual labor. But if I am having two or three an hour and changing my position changes them, or they stop after a few hours, this is all in the normal range. HOpe that helps! Sometimes these suckers can hurt
You know I didn't think there was a limit or amount to them. I always thought that unless it was timeable it wasn't anything to worry about. Funny that you should write this, I've been having them since 6:45 this morning. No real pattern and definitely not timeable. I've been trying to rest as much as possible since I have no other signs of labor.
I had them since 20 weeks with both pregnancies and more than four and hours after drinking water and resting or laying on your side.....then call the doctor. I guess water and rest should make them stop or become less frequent. Both pgs they have checked my cervix early because i have atleast 3 but mostly 4 an hour everyday. Mine aren't painful, just your text book BH. At my 32 week appointment and my 28 week appointment my cervix was hard and closed It is really hard to gauge I am sure since everyone's body does it differently.
Keep track of them and if you feel any concern.....call your doctor or advice nurse if you have one.
I've been having at least 4 an hour all day every day for about 2 or 3 weeks. They are powerful and strong but not painful or even at regular intervals. I think they are a way of making you slow down in late pregnancy--and they certainly do that!

I always feel so out of the loop on this because I've never noticed having them before. I have had ctx show (on EFM) in previous pregs that I wasn't feeling though. I guess my body makes up for all the pain when I actually DO go into 'true' labor (very hard back labor...everytime); however, I can't help but feel like I'm missing out on something I oughta be feeling....recognizing (?)...or something? Sounds crazy, I'm sure.
Hope water/rest works and you feel better!

I have them off and on all day long. Duing the day, they are mostly B&H's, but at night, they turn crampy and aweful. And Im barely holding in this baby (3cm, or so by now).

As several pps have said, if you are having more than 4 per hour (every 15 min) and drinking water, lying on your side, or just changing positions/activity don't make them stop or slow down--you should call your CP.
I have a LOT of BH. They tend to get really regular in the evenings and they definitely hurt by this point in pregnancy. Some of my clients tell me they don't have BH, but pretty much everyone does. If you ever feel like your baby is "balling up" in your belly, put your hand on your belly. It will probably feel pretty firm all over, and that is a BH ctx.

That is how they sometimes feel- like the baby balled up. But other times they hurt a little. I think mine are in the normal range then because they aren't timeable and if I drink water or just practice breathe through them they go away. (I have been practicing my Hypnobirth breathing alot! LOL) I know the BH contrax are kind of like warm up contractions...but like Melissa- I get hard back labor too, and I hope to avoid it but maybe it is just how I am made and how the babies get positioned. I have been trying to watch my posture though.
I just wanted to know what was considered "normal"...because I had a few with the boys but not a ton. This baby though- I have them a lot. It isn't something I need to call the mw about though...it isn't true labor. I feel better now though since it isn't the real ones! I am not ready! LOL I have too many things to do between now and then!

BH ctx are good "practice" ctx, and you definitely notice them more/earlier in subsequent pregnancies than the first. BH ctx actually help your cervix move forward, efface, and even begin dilation. It's a GREAT time to practice your focused breathing and relaxation techniques.
Francine- I'm sure you probably already know this, but to help baby settle into a face-down position, you can do knees-and-elbows (the "miracle" position), and definitely avoid recliners, bucket car seats, and sleeping on your back.
Yay! We are so close!!! It'll be baby time SO soon!

Lurking from Due in July -
I just talked to my doc about this on Tuesday and she said that if I have more than 6 per hour that I should call. I had always heard 4, but she insisted 6 or less was fine as long as I didn't have any other symptoms.
