Planned C-secs over here!
I am opting for a planned C-sec but since I haven't seen my OBGYN yet I don't know any dates. Has anyone been given their date yet? How soon before your due date is it planned?
I guess it depends on O.R. times so maybe it's too early to book?

Re: Planned C-secs over here!
I'm having a planned Csection too. I went in to see the surgeon performing it in February and he said somewhere around 10 days before my due date, but I have to go back and see him in May to get the date set for sure.

Re: Planned C-secs over here!
Hi there,
I am having a planned C-section too. I was given two due dates at the beginning of my pregnancy - June 21st and June 24th. My Ob/gyn has chosen to go with the later date. At my last appointment, I didn't get to see my regular OB, but spoke to his partner about the planned C-section. The dates he gave me (based on the 24th of June) were 11th-17th of June. We've chosen June 14th, but will have this confirmed at the next appointment on April 12th.
My first dd was breech, and we were told then that the c-section had to be done 10-14 days before the due date, to minimise the risk of going into labour and necessitating an emergency C-section.
Hope this helps.

Re: Planned C-secs over here!
I am having a c/s since my 1st delivery was an emergency c/s and had a classical incision. My dr. firstt said we'd schedule for 35 weeks, but of course now it is anyone's guess!!

Re: Planned C-secs over here!
I'll be having my 4th scheduled c-section. I plan on talking to my doc about the date at my next regular appointment on April 8th. I will be having a diagnostic u/s that day and he will be measuring her and watching for practice breathing and such. I am hoping for June 13th (a special day to me - my parents were married that day) and it would give me 2 weeks before a big local event that DH's band plays for. He wants to introduce Presley to the town at that event and I'd rather she be at least 2 weeks old first. Plus that would give me time to be moving around better and have my staples out and such. If for some reason the doc thinks that's too soon, we will probably put it off till either the 18th or the 20th. I don't want to have baby on any other family member's birthdays - we have 3 that following week and they are all kids - don't want to compete for birthday events.

Re: Planned C-secs over here!
Thanks guys! Toinette, I'm due the 24th too so I wonder if I'll be given the same window for my C. That is Fathers Day weekend so I wonder if our bebe's will have a Fathers Day bday someday!

Re: Planned C-secs over here!
I've only had experience locally, and I LOVE the way mine is set up!
Basically they get their shift schedules (on call for delivery) done about 2 months in advance. When I go in on April 1st I will get to pick the day. My doctor would like to deliver a week before my due date so we are looking at the first week of June, and we want a specific anesthesiologist because the epidural only worked once out of three c-sections. She said this specific one is fantastic/better than the others, so I want him, and I'll be planning around his schedule. And if all goes as hoped, we are hoping for a June 3rd delivery. But we were able to pick the dates of the younger two without any issue, even had my son on a Saturday, cause it was his great grandpa's birthday.

Re: Planned C-secs over here!
I am also due the 24th! My OB wants to deliver on the 17th (here they only go 7days before the edd), we talk about this being the date every visit but it wont be set in stone until the 16th when the hospital calls me and tells me what times they have open in the OR.

Re: Planned C-secs over here!
If I got my way though I wouldn't deliver until the 27th (pay day for Dh and I) that way we could afford to pay the co-pay that same day.

Re: Planned C-secs over here!
I am having a planned c-section as well and am due on the 27th. My dr. won't give me my date yet and has simply said she plans to schedule it 7-10 days before my due date. I think it depends on the OB but I know mine won't schedule it this early.
