I have been chasing around after my son for the last hour trying to get him to sit still for a minute so that I can get a good picture of him for my christmas cards!!! I should have just taken him in to the photo studio!!!

You know, though, sometimes taking them in is actually harder! It only took me 8-9 years to figure that one out. (Generally, we only go once a year now but used to go every 2-3mo) Sometimes, we'd get them all dressed up and go through all of the motions and still not get the 'perfect' picture...um, not even close. Then again, sometimes you go and are in and out in no time at all. You just never know what mood will hit them!

FWIW, my almost 2yo (on Fri) screams and cries when I pull out our camera now. My DH calls it the crying machine!

Good luck with your pic! An action shot might really reveal his little personality at this stage and be very cute for cards.

I know what you mean. We took my daughter to get pictures on Saturday. The best shot of her is off center, because she was just starting to get up. We tried and tried to get a nice picture, centered, with her smiling and she was just not in the mood. She just wanted to get up and move around. I don't take as many pictures at home either as I would like to because it is so difficult to get a really good shot.

I am a photographer - a child photographer - and just about every year I end up crying because I can't get dd to cooperate with me to just get one picture for our card. Hopefully that will make you feel better

This year I didn't have the energy at all to do our normal family shot. I just used pictures from the rest of the year with her. Luckily she does cooperate with me sometimes.

I so know how you mean. My bolys are like that too. My picture taking of them had slowed dramatically. I think the last pics of them were their halloween costumes and Carson showing off his new arm. Otherwise it was the summer time.

We have done professional pics once, Isaac's 6 month ones. Had a college student did them (with the IL's, family pics in 2005, I was pg with Carson) once, and just a friend of SIL's once (with the IL's again, this year family pics). I took pics of the boys in 2006. Those are my all time fav.

I personally like the candid shots best then professional. I just keep clicking away. Youll eventually get a nice one out of the bunch. Sometimes, which I hate, is that the best one is fuzzy. Ticks me off.
