Sometime around 10 AM today I started having dull menstrual cramps and they were not letting up. I felt the same way on Friday night, but thought they were attributed to A LOT of walking. Anyway, they were getting more annoying so I call the MW and ask if I can squeeze in an office visit. They had a 2 PM appt available so I took it. I got there and she did an internal exam....still long, hard and back. No worries there but that still doesn't explain my nagging pain. She did that swab test to check for early delivery and the GBS. She then hooks me up for a NST to see if there's anything going on. Lo and behold there they were - ctx in a regular pattern. The MW looks at me and says, "well mama you're headed over to L&D!" My heart sank as I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I said, "for what?" She decided that I needed further monitoring.
So off I go across the skybridge to the hospital. The L&D nurses hook me up and there they are again. Getting stronger and still regular. The called the MW on call and she okayed them to administer terbutaline. I had 3 shots and lots of water and juice. The ctx let up as soon as I got the first shot, but I still got all 3.
The MW decided to discharge me, but I am now on bedrest for AT LEAST 2 weeks. Let me tell you that my husband is REALLY looking forward to taking care of me. I already feel like a bump on a log...
Anyway, KL is doing great. Textbook even.
The swab test came back negative so it doesn't look like she'll be coming anytime soon. My urine was ok. There was some abnormal bacteria but nothing to warrant antibiotics just lots of cranberry juice. I did get a RX for albuterol that I'm to take orally if I feel the cramps and ctx again.
So there you have it a pretty eventful day for KL and I. I'm ready to meet her, but I need her to stay put just a little bit longer.
Side note -- my MW is using my LMP as a go by. So according to them my due date is June 20th and that would make me 33W 6D today. My former OB was going by an early u/s for my due date.
I feel so blah because I hate not being able to not do things I like -- no dtd, no cooking, no driving, nothing fun basically. At least my baby is doing great.
Yeah, it does sound like you guys had an eventful day! I am glad KL decided to stay put a little longer but I am sorry about the bedrest! I hope you make it a few weeks more at least though.
It's funny that your dr. was going by an u/s for your due date. My dr. was going by my last MP which put my due date at June 27 but by u/s and his size he has been measuring ahead from the beginning. At my last u/s they said he should really be due around June 16 but my dr. still won't budge and change the date. At least she did schedule the c-section for the 18th. I just think it's funny how different OBs are from eachother and how they do things.
Glad they were able to get the cxs to stop and that you are home resting comfortably. Mind your MW and let your hubby take care of you. It will be worth the boredom when KL arrives healthy and happy a little further down the timeline.
I hope the little misses stays put a few more week. I am sure this must have had you in a a panic. This is my second and i would have been put into a panic. Make sure to keep me updated Stay put little KL
I'm sorry to hear about your trip to L&D but I'm glad to hear they were able to stop the contractions. That must have been scary. Just take it easy and rest up. At least you know KL wont be coming anytime soon!
Welcome to the bedrest clan. Sucks but its for the best. Glad they got them under control. Hope for no more until term.

I'm glad that they got you all situated and that KL decided to stay put!!
My OB is going be the u/s for the EDD. According to my last MP I should be due on the 6th.... but the u/s said the 16th and I'm measuring almost right at the last date (well, a couple of days early)
I hope that they second wave stops!!! KUP!

Take it easy- if you can, listen to meditation like music and drink water. Take really deep breaths! I have learned a lot from the Hypnobirth class. I know it is scary but try to relax. Tell her to stay put! It is good that you aren't dilating or anything though.
I learned a lot about due dates too. LOL Babies are still considered normal term anywhere from 36-37 (most say 37 weeks) until 42 weeks. 40 weeks is an average! AN AVERAGE! I know we talked about due dates before, but so many drs and women too get bent out of shape when someone goes a day or a week over the ESTIMATED due date. Truth is so many factors play into it. They shouldn't narrow it to a day- they should say the week or something...or say- you are due anytime between week 37 and week 42. As long as the baby is doing well they shouldn't start inductions!
Anyway that is my soapbox and I didn't mean to hijack! LOL
Sorry you are going through the contractions Zara. At that early stage it is scary.

The day you deliver, outside will be warm. Your baby will arrive in the evening. After a labor lasting approximately 5 hours, your child, a girl, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 8 pounds, 15 ounces, and will be 17-1/2 inches long. This child will have blue eyes and dark hair.
Glad to hear it was no more than a scare and you and KL are doing well! Guilt-free rest = not a bad thing! Seriously, I know that "I need to get up and go" feeling, but try to enjoy the stillness (and pampering) while you can. Once you're a mama, that doesn't happen much...LOL! Take it easy!

Yay for being further along than you thought! How exciting to have to go to L&D. Were you scared at all? I never had any contractions before I was induced my last pregnancy so I imagine it to be a bit scary/exciting!
Kristina - I was a little freaked just because I couldn't believe that I was actually having regular ctx. Did not input! LOL! Anyway, I'm SO tired of being on bedrest already. Boo!
That happened to me with my first pg (actually with my 2nd too, but that was a different scenario) and I was scared! I was only 25 weeks and they were 4 mins apart! I went to L and D like you did, got the shots, and I was told to "take it easy" for a week (which to me meant go down a level on the exercise equipment, LOL) and everything was fine after that. It was almost like my body just wanted to check out what labor was like! I had a few flare ups again after that but nothing as bad, I think they called it a sensitive uterus or something.
Good luck, bedrest sucks, I had it with my 2nd, but maybe you can get some reading done. I kept a journal for the baby, it helped me get through the days.
