on a lighter note....I'M A GODMOTHER!
my goddaughter was born monday. vicki (my best friend) was induced sunday evening at 6. she stayed dilated at 1 throughout the night until her water broke at 7.30am. within the hour she jumped to 4. by 1.30 she'd only gone to 5 but her contractions were coming a minute apart with her uterus getting little rest between. they stopped her pitocin and decdided if she didn't make any progress in an hour they'd do a c-section. so all said and done, she had her c-section (which she was dreading) and baby alana was born at 2.16pm on st. patrick's day! boy is her godmother already planning her 21st bday! HAHA!

Re: on a lighter note....I'M A GODMOTHER!
lol, i read bf and thought boyfriend. lol. she's doing as well as can be expected. no complications except the day after (tues) the nurse she had made her twist to get out of bed instead of rolling on her side, so it kinda pulled on the staples. other than that, she's ok. they were only giving her ibprophen-like pain pills until a nurse "suggested" she ask for percocet. i guess the hospital only gives acetaminophen unless you specifically request some percs. at least i know what to expect and look forward to. i'm going to have to have a c-section. ugh.

The day you deliver, outside will be warm. Your baby will arrive in the evening. After a labor lasting approximately 5 hours, your child, a girl, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 8 pounds, 15 ounces, and will be 17-1/2 inches long. This child will have blue eyes and dark hair.

Re: on a lighter note....I'M A GODMOTHER!
i have to have a c-section because of a "disease" i have. it's called hypokalemic periodic paralysis. when my muscles get weak from too much strain or too much excersise, my immune system doesn't recognize it as healthy material so it goes and shuts it down until it recognizes it as healthy again. basically, it thinks the muscle is a virus or something. so if i can barely run a mile, there's no way i'm going to be able to do a vag birth without going paralyzed. that's also why i'm on bed rest. bleh.

Re: on a lighter note....I'M A GODMOTHER!
Your goddaughter is beautiful! I know you are proud and it probably got you excited about holding your own little girl!
This will be c-section #4 for me - I don't sweat them anymore. My best advice for you is to start trying to move the next day (walking) and either get a small firm pillow - like a throw pillow - to hold against your tummy as you get up and down. Another thing that works well are the support/girdle style panties to wear on top of your own for support on the incision. The sooner you move, the sooner you get the soreness worked out. The worst thing you can do is lay around too much. It makes the soreness last MUCH longer.
