Kianna's Birth Story
It all started right after having some 'fun' time with dh. I went pee, then off to bed. About 30 seconds later I had to pee again. I noticed I was having contractions with it. This continued and I thought I was getting a bladder infection. I waited for a bit before telling dh that we NEED to go. During the peeing trips and cxs I was finishing up packing. So we woke the kids up and left for the hospital (11:30pm). Got there, got checked out and was 6-7cm so it was indeed labor and NOT a bladder infection. Tried to call my dr but he was gone so I had the on-call dr who was great and reminded me of my cousin's wife. About an hour later I was checked again and still was 6-7. The cxs were intense so I asked for the epi. At that time she broke my water and was a good 7 then. They were all saying Ill be delivering anytime. HAHAHA, they were wrong. So what it seemed forever to wait for the epi, in come the guy to put it in. The guy had troubles, OUCH. I got an intrathecal epi. I don't want to ever feel that electrical shock again. OMG. But once he got it in good, I was in heaven. I even got to NAP while waiting to get to 10cm. So that tells you that I didn't progress fast as they thought I would considering my past labors. So I finally felt pressure and the urge so we called the nurse in. Yep, 10cm. I pushed a few times and out came her head (I felt everything). They told me with a stern voice NOT TO PUSH. As you know that its hard and nearly impossible when you have to but I listened and not pushed because the cord was wrapped around her neck (not surprising since the baby was very active inside there). As soon as they said go I did and out the baby came. We asked "What is it". "It's a GIRL". I yelled 'I got my girl' and dh said 'we got our girl' and started to cry. They placed her on me and then off to get checked out and weighed. They noticed her grunting and being more limp then normal so they had to take her in the NICU to get checked out. Turns out she had a low blood sugar count when born and being delivered fast she took in a lot of fluid. She spent the whole first day in the NICU being watched/evaluated. The next day she got to leave the NICU since her sugar levels were normal and stayed normal (she pulled out her IV while they were fixing it and told her if she stayed good she could get out of the NICU and in with mom). Happy she listened.
I had a second degree tear and her APGARS were 7 and 9. And she is a PRO at bfing. Absolutely no problems there.
