Well, I went for my 32 week check up yesterday. The heart beat was down a little (low 130's, had been high 140's). I finally gained weight - 2 lbs. Which puts me one pound over my prepregnacy weight. I was surprised to have gained since I am back to throwing up about once a day. My BH have gotten started in the last two weeks. My doctor ordered a NST everyweek from here on out, and another ultrasound next week to check fluid levels and check on the baby. I asked if there was something she was concerned about, and she said it is to be on the safe side since the heartrate is down and I am on lovenox. I guess to make sure the baby still has good blood flow with my clotting disorder. I never had to have a NST with any of my others, so this was new. I went today for the NST. It took about 35 minutes. The baby was not cooperating as usual, so they kept doing things (like banging two medal spoons on my stomach, I am not kidding) to get the baby upset. Apparently they were looking for the heartbeat to raise above 150 atleast 5 times, and counting the movements. I guess I passed, cause they sent me on my way. I return next Wed. for another NST and the ultrasound. I asked about being checked to see if there were any cervical changes, but was told they don't like to do that until the 35th week. I just wanted to see since I have been having BH for two weeks. Oh well!
It sounds like your doc is really looking out for you and your baby. I'm glad to hear you passed the NST. Good luck with your next NST and u/s. I hope things go just as well for you as they did today.
he drs here gives you something to drink (most likely nice cold water) if the baby isn't moving much.

Hey Katie! I am on Lovenox too but I go in for NST twice a week (and did last pregnancy too). I go once a week to my OB and once a week to the perinatologists office. At the perinatologists office they also do the fluid check. Have they talked to you about baby aspirin? They had me take it this pregnancy (after I stopped nursing) and I had to stop it at 35 weeks. They made them feel better that the baby's blood would be fine, and the blood through the placenta) since baby aspirin crosses the placenta and Lovenox does not.
Kate was very cooperative at all my NST last time but this baby is NEVER cooperative. They put that buzzer thing on my belly. I usually take a sugary snack and some cold water or juice to help the baby move. Will they be putting you on Heparin at 36 weeks instead of the Lovenox?
They have not had me take a baby aspirin during the pregnancy, but I will be on one a day 6 weeks post from here on out. We found out I had a clotting disorder after several miscarriges, and genetic testing. I too have seen a perintologists, who is the one who makes the decisions on my lovenox dose. They have talked about switching me to heparin at 36 weeks because no epidural if I am still on lovenox. There was a national recall in Feb. with a major manufactorer of heparin, so there is a shortage in some areas. My doctors said depending on the shortage will depend on if they switch me in 3 weeks. If not they will schedule an induction date and I will stop the lovenox two days before. What are they planning to do with you? Is this your first pregnancy with lovenox?
Unfortuantely no. I had a blood clot in the beginning of my last pregnancy. I had the genetic testing done and started on Lovenox while I was still in the hospital from the blood clot. My brother takes Coumadin and has had several strokes due to the blood clotting disorder. I stayed on 120mg of Lovenox for most of my last pregnancy and then switched to 80 mg. This pregnancy I am on 80 mg. On Tuesday I see the perinatologist and will be switched over to Heparin. I switched at 36 weeks my last pregnancy too. Our perinatologist said there shouldn't be a problem with getting Heparin by now. Hoping that is true.
With Kate, they induced me at 38w5d because her weight gain had declined. They told me at an appt at 8am and I had already taken my first dose of the day (I take Heparin twice a day and will this time too.) Once I was admitted to be induced, I was given Cervadil and Pitocin and still was in labor for about 36 hours. I was okay without an epidural for most of the labor but because Kate was refusing to come out, I eventually needed it and was so glad I was able to get it. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to have one if I needed it or that I would have to have a c/s. The doctors had spent months telling me that a c/s was the last possible resort because it's dangerous with blood clotting disorders. But I ended up having one and was totally fine. In fact, the perinatologists want me to have another c/s but my OBs and I have decided to do a VBAC.
Please let me know if you have any questions. My DH and I did a ton of research when this first happened to us last year. I remember I had a thousand questions and no one to answer them and it was frustrating!
Katie, I was just thinking I forgot to respond to what I do after the baby is born. I switch back to Lovenox while I am in the hospital and then stay on it 6 weeks post partum. Apparently that's the time when there is the greatest risk for clotting - after the birth. I don't do baby aspirin because my peds don't recommend it while breastfeeding. Hope you are doing well!
