I've heard of rasberry Tea, and Castor oil!!! Do these things work??? I'm in so much pain and I wanna know anything that can speed this up!!!!!!!

I have heard NOT to do castor oil. That it is a myth and only makes you more miserable. Sorry. I don't know any tried and true method.

Supposedly, there is a chemical in semen that is supposed to help speed things along.

Lol at the sex!!! I will definitedly try!!! My friend used castor oil and within 2 hours of using it she went in and was 3 cm!!! I also heard that it can run your bowels off pretty bad and cause alot of cramping!!

If you do use the casteroil you might want to talk to a certified midwife because it is a whole deal with OJ and baking soda and the casteroil, I can't remember right now what the schedule is or the ratio is but you might be able to look it up on line, I wouldn't reccomend it though, it is really gross!

I tried everything except Castor oil (that is one I just refuse to do, sorry!) when I was pregnant with my dd. I went past my due date with her and ended up induced and then still ended up with an emergency c-section. Sex, spicy food, walking, etc...none of it worked to speed things up with my dd. I am of the belief that nothing works if baby simply isn't ready. If baby is ready then I'd bet tons of stuff would work. I'm tons of help, huh?

If you are dilating already then sex and nipple stimulation helps- read the other natural induction thread! Semen has prostaglandin which stimulates oxytocin- our natural hormone that induces labor- which is much more powerful than pitocin. But yes- they say what gets the baby IN gets the baby OUT! Go have lots of sex! LOL

Castor oil may work, but even midwives are saying not to use it. It can be really intense...it just cleans you out and can make you go into labor but not guaranteed! The Hypnobirth instructor said try mineral oil...it is more gentle. I have not worked up the courage to try it! LOL I did use Evening Primrose oil capsules with my second- I was about 39 weeks though, and took 2 orally and 2 vaginally (poked a small hole and then inserted) the night before I had him and I think I took 2 more in the am- and I can't remember if I took them vaginally or orally. But I ended up having him that night. I had an appointment on the 13th, and the midwife said I looked like I was ready and could go soon. Well- he was born at 10:40 pm on the 14th!

I think I tried it with my 3rd but I don't remember it being as quick.

I may try it with thins one but I am like Tasha- if the baby isn't ready, not much will work. I know my body knows what to do!

I took castor oil with my first dd. 2 days later I had her. The cramping and using the restroom is apparantly what stimulated my labor. It is certainly gross.
