Icon3 Diaper Bowl 2008

Talking to someone the other day they mentioned that mommies have baby showers and daddies have diaper showers. Apparently all the men show up with at least two cases of diapers, enjoy a cook-out and tasty beverages.

So too bad we aren't due sooner in the year to coincide with the Super Bowl. But, I'm still going to try to plan something for dh to coincide with another sports related event. Perhaps opening day of baseball season.

Do any of you girls do anything similar?

Diaper parties for men aren't a thing up here. Never heard of it. I know for a fact that dh and his friends would NEVER do that. Along with my male uncles and cousins. All I would hear is.... "Thats only a women thing".
Here its either a regular shower or a welcome baby BBQ.

I, myself, wouldn't mind a diaper party. You go through diapers like you wouldn't believe. That, along with batteries

Im hoping though to have a small shower of sorts. Either before or after baby. Its our last baby and even if its another boys we got rid of tons of clothes and toys on a garage sale last year. A shower is really needed if its a girl since we got no girly things.

I can't imagine DH's friends doing that either, but it sounds like a great idea!!!

One of the best gifts I got from someone was 5 packs of diapers in every size from 1 - 5. It really helped when it was time to move to the next size diaper and I didn't have them yet, that was I had some on hand to test out before buying the next biggest size.

However I also found that I perferred a different brand for each stage, I LOVED Huggies Swaddler newborns and Huggies size 2, but every other size I've gone throught I HATED Huggies and loved Pampers. Every baby is different with diaper brands. This baby I might love Pampers better than Huggies, but like I said it is handy to have some of each size on hand regardless of Brand.

I think I was trying to write ........

I've never heard of a diaper party for the dad, but it does sound need if you have a DH that will do it. Mine won't even attend a simple shower with me - even if I've asked. He doesn't even show up to load the gifts into the car; but does help unload them. He just doesn't do "hen parties" as he calls them. He likes to look through everything with me at home - just us and get excited about everything together.

I had 3 showers with Ava, just because I was working (shower #1), my last baby was 15 years prior so I had basically nothing (shower #2 from my sister) and then a church shower (shower #3). This time, if it's another girl, I certainly won't need much and since I'm not working, I will probably only have a church shower, if one at all. My church family is really big into giving showers. I certainly don't expect to be overrun with shower gifts this time around. And that's ok. If we have a boy, I will probably invite some of my old work buddies to the church shower, just because there will be a greater need of clothing and blankets. Don't think DH would go for wrapping a boy in pink blankets!

I have a preety tight group of friends and the guys get real peeved when I do not include the guys in showers and such. I personally do not like coed baby showers let alone a baby shower period. I know I am the baby shower grinch!!!!!!!!!!! Since this is our second baby we are just throwing a welcome BBQ on the 4th of July and that way we can still have our traditional 4th BBQ and have all the guys and gals together at once. I told the girls no shower for me PLEASE! Around here it is considered rude to have a second baby shower, it is bad ettiquette, however I think it is becoming more common for people to have a second baby shower. I think people should atleast have a welcome party. Atleast if someone wanted to gift the new baby something they could. IMO then the second baby can have a special day to be honored too. Who writes all these etiquette books anyways

I meant to say that children who are really spaced apart you can't expect the parents to have held onto everything from the first baby either.

My DH has been really helpful so I think it would be nice to spoil him with a party. I've already mentioned it to him and he seems okay with the idea. I don't think his buddies would mind bringing him a case of diapers...they wouldn't even have to wrap anything! At the very least they could bring him cash donations toward the diaper fund.

I will let you know if we decide on the party and I will def post updates and pics.

If your DH would appreciate it then I say why not. Get the guys some beers and make some good food and they can celebrate your baby to be. I know a lot of my friends husbands have felt left out and would have appreciated a diaper bowl or something along those lines my DH does not so much care about being left out, but we try to include all of the guys when possible. I can't wait to see pics.

Im with Kim. If he and his friends are willing, go for it. Itll be great for him to be around his friends and family before the baby arrives. Beer, grilling food (since I see you are in TX), just enjoying time together and talking...what else would a man want.
