Default Coming home outfit

I am wondering who is trying to find or have found a real cute coming home outfit?
I wasnt too concerned with it with my first and i picked out of the cutest outfits i got for a gift. This time i know i will not be getting any newborn outfits before so i have to find something real cute.
Another reason i want something cute is because i used Sadie's coming home outfit in a shadow box in her bedroom. I will probably do the same with the next baby.

I have checked gap, old navy, gymboree and havent found anything real cute yet.
I was thinking about a one piece with long pants and short sleeves since it will probably be warm outside. One pieces are the best for a newborn.

I bought an outfit for my first and it was WAY too big and we ended up bringing her home in a tshirt and diaper wrapped in a blanket. Now that it's my second I just don't think it's a big deal so I'll take a newborn onesie and be fine with that.

I did new come home outfits for each one- although I did the same- got one of the cutest gift outifts and brought#1 home in that. With #2 I got a little yellow one piece outfit- turns out he looks awesome in yellows, oranges, reds LOL #3 I had a little sailor suit for his picture (really cute) and a really cute outfit with a frog on it and the pants were long and shirt was short sleeves...the pants were blue and green striped...there was another color but I can't remember the color now!

I will see what I can find later. I'm like Rachel- I will probably find something cuter later LOL

The day you deliver, outside will be warm. Your baby will arrive in the evening. After a labor lasting approximately 5 hours, your child, a girl, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 8 pounds, 15 ounces, and will be 17-1/2 inches long. This child will have blue eyes and dark hair.

We used this outfit for the 'coming home' event. Since we didn't know the sex of the baby I had my mom run out and buy it while we were in the hospital. This time I definitely will have pre-buy an outfit but I haven't found anything that has "wow'd" me yet!

I took two outfits with me to the hospital with Ava and both ended up being WAY too big, but I brought her home in the one that fit the closest and these were both newborn sized. She weighed 7 lbs 11 oz. I never dreamed they would be too big. All I know this time is that I will definitely be taking something in premie size, just in case. Also, Ava was brought home on January 1st - so who would think you would need anything short sleeved right? - it was 80 degrees and the poor child was hot, so we traveled home with the A/C on.

Did you wash it first? Sometimes clothes shrink, then they fit.

Yeah- the newborn size was HUGE on my first one- he was 6 pounds 8 oz. The outfit I had for Aidan was ok I think and he was 7 pounds 8 oz. With Breylan- he was practically busting out of the newborn size since he was 8 pounds 15 oz.

MAN I hope this baby is less than 8 pounds! I want a small baby! LOL

Oh yes, everything was washed beforehand. She was just long and skinny. 21 1/2 inches long.

With DS we used the cutest outfit we got as a gift....it fit him pretty good he was 8lbs 14 oz..;pretty big for my first child....im actually scared on how big this one could get.
The outfit was really cute but it was yellow..and he looks good in yellow now but that outfit looked kinda girly on him, so this time were definalty buying something gender specific.
But im like the other ladies, i wont buy anythig until further along, cause i know once i do i'll find something even cuter.

Assuming we have our first homebirth, it will probably be a "first time to church" outfit for this little one. I have bought a coming home outfit for all of my newborns. They all had sleepers/one-piece coming home outfits - and they all were swimming in them. I put them on a couple of other special times when they fit better too, though.

Austin's was a green Looney Tunes one (to go with all of the LT decs...haha). We didn't know if he was a boy or a girl. Spencer had a blue Pooh one. Kiley wore a really sweet flowered one that had bows, a hat, and a sweet little velour jacket that went over the top. (She was born today - five years ago - it was really cold!) Actually, not the cutest pic I have of her in it, but here she is (minus the jacket): Carle Foundation Hospital - Centers and Programs: Maternity Services - Choices
(Funny the hospital still has that up.)
Ellie also wore a sweet, pink one-piece with a matching headband and blanket.

I'd share pics, but we've changed computers and they're all stored on CDs now (and most of the boys' baby pics are 35mm copies, lol)...it will be awhile before I have the time or energy to go through them all and get them organized.

I'm sure I'll go with one-piece again since my newborns always have skinny little waists. Maybe something short-sleeved with a sweater to wear over the top in the a/c? I'll wait until more things like that come into season before putting much effort into looking.

It sounds silly but I'm having the hardest time with this! For my shower with my DD, my mom gave me the outfit that I came home from the hospital in. It was adorable, in perfect condition and so meaningful. I'll pass it on to my DD when she has a baby of her own (if she has a girl) but I'm totally stuck this time around. I want something special for Brady to come home in but I can't find a darn thing. I think I'm trying to find something comparable to what I brought Lily home in (hand knit sweater, booties and bonnet) but I'm having zero luck. I'd like it to be something I can pass down to him but like I said, nothing is jumping out at me. Plus, I don't want to spend a fortune because it won't be worn that much. I want something very simple and blue. So silly that I'm in such a fuss over this. I search the web every day looking but no luck yet!

I did not find out what the baby was with Isabella so I actually still have the boy outfit and I still love it. I got Preemie outfits so that they fit. The preemie outfit was still too big on Isabella 7lb 13oz, so even if this next baby is bigger it should still fit. I am sure if I find something I like better between now and then I will get it, but my outfit is pretty cute. Good Luck

I have a dumb question LOL What do people do when they are not finding out the sex before? Do you get a green or yellow outfit or a pink and a blue and then return what you can't use? I guess it is about preference but I am just wondering.

When I had my first, I had alot to choose from. I guess I did with my 2nd and 3rd too- but I went and bought new outfits for coming home, and the pictures. With my second- I FORGOT the outfit and so his picture was just him in the t-shirt! HAHA So I had dh grab the outfit- it was the John Lennon Noah's ark style...it was cute. Maybe I left it in the car- I forget!

The third- I had his clothes packed ahead so I wouldn't accidentally leave them somewhere! LOL You know- pregnancy braiin, labor brain...you aren't all there! HAHAHA

So with my girl it might be harder to choose because there are so many adorable girl outfits. One thing I know- it is hard to get stuff now because it is winter, and I know the srping/summer stuff will be coming soon...so I want to wait since this is a June baby.

HAHA I wasn't going to buy anything yet but I was at Target buying dipes and wipes and decided to look at the baby stuff. I THINK I found an outfit for the baby's first picture! It was a little dress with a sweater! OMG It was CUTE. I didn't get it because it was 20$ LOL But dh said I should get it so it isn't sold out by the time we really find out. So I'll go back tomorrow.

I want to check babies r us and Old Navy too.

With Kylie, my mom bought me an outfit and she said, "I thought this would be her coming home outfit." It was cute but probably not what I would have definitely chosen for her to wear for that. However, my mom was so excited and I didn't want to disappoint her. Plus, I really didn't think it was a big deal so she did end up wearing that home. Looking back, I really don't think it ended up being that big of a deal either.

With this one, I bought a few cute outfits for him over the weekend. I found a cute little outfit that I might have him wear home but I will probably get something way cuter later on so I'm sure it will change. Especially since I was just informed today that someone is planning to throw me a baby shower in a couple months or so. There is no telling what he will end up coming home in after I see what I get for my shower.

Some people do the yellow/green. Some do plain white. Some even bring both pink/blue and use the one they need.

I might do the blue/pink thing is this kid doesn't show the goods. Im not fond of yellow's and greens. And white, Im not daring, but its cute tho. Only baptism I do the white. Spots and stains easily.

We didn't know the sex of Kate before she was born so I bought a pink outfit and a blue outfit. I gave my mom some Dreft and asked her to wash whichever one we needed. Turns out the outfit was HUGE (it was 0-3 months) and my mom went to BRU and bought a bunch of girlie clothes. She has 2 grandsons so she was thrilled to shop for a girl. I picked the outfit I liked the best and Kate went home in that one. I think I will just have my mom take Kate to the store and pick out some outfits for the baby when it arrives and we find out what it is. I know my mom enjoyed it last time and although Kate may have no clue, I think it would be neat if she was there to help pick some clothes out.

I will be buying preemie again! Although it says up to 5 lbs (I think) Kate wore hers to almost 9 pounds. She was a skinny baby though.
