I am still without a laptop but tonight stole DH's as he got paged back to the hospital.
On Tuesday I had an appt at the perinatologist. I got my prescription for Heparin (although I still have to take it in to get it filled). As soon as I get it filled I will start my Heparin injections twice a day. Yay! [insert sarcasm!] Actually I know it's critical for me and the baby so it's not negotiable. Anyway, my fluid was great (15) and the baby is weighing about 6p2o - which Dh thinks is hysterical since that's bigger than Kate was when she was a month old! We know that the u/s can be off but hopefully this baby will be bigger so I won't have so much to worry about when this baby is born. The baby's weight has slowed down a bit. Last month it was the 41st percentile and this month the growth scan showed it was the 33rd percentile. I was fully prepared for this. Kate's growth significantly slowed down around this time too, which is why she was induced. What I didn't know (and wasn't prepared for) is that Kate officially was labeled as IUGR. I had no idea! Was I not paying attention they day they induced me? I guess it's a good thing I didn't know or I may have worried a bit more. Ok a lot more! This baby is showing no signs of IUGR even though the growth has slowed down. Whew! And the blood flow from the placenta was the best number he had seen all day (my appt was at 3) so that was great to hear since they are always worried about blood flow.
The perinatologist is now fully on board with a VBAC and even inducing me if it's necessary - since I need to be induced by 39 weeks anyway. However, since I am having some progress I am hoping for no induction. I did ask him if it's better to be affaced or dilated. he said they really go hand and hand - which I knew - but it's better to be effaced than dilated early on. More effacement helps the dilation apparently. Which is great since I am way more effaced than dilated!
Today I had an OB appt and saw the NP. I hate when I don't get to see the doc at the end! Although I've seen the docs the whole time so I guess I can't complain. She wasn't going to check me, but I asked her to. I am still 1 cm dilated but am 70% effaced this week (last week was 50%). I guess that means that things are moving along but I wish there was some dilation too. Hopefully the full moon next week will get me going! She could still feel the baby's head and I can tell the baby has dropped a bit more than it's been.
Both of my NSTs went well this week. I've had minimum contractions but some cramping while walking with Kate and Oliver (the dog). When I get home from a walk, I need to lay down and drink a ton of water.
I still have a ton to do. I haven't even gotten the bassinett out! I also need to go and get the car seat installed. Hopefully I can get some of this stuff done and then the baby will come. I have one more appt left with the OB (next Friday) and then we will schedule an induction date for the following Friday which will be 39 weeks exactly. I am starting to get a bit anxious and am trying to soak up every minute I have left with just Kate.
