Wrong gender
I had another U/S today and I got to see my baby. Well, it turns out that my little girl has baby boy parts. Yup, It's a boy. I was already making a list of all the possible girl names and had told family we were having a girl and now I have to let everyone know that we're having another boy. I must admit that I was a little sad that my little girl was "taken away" from me, but I'm happy either way.
Anyway, the baby looked great, h/b was 147bpm and weighs 1lb 1oz. Measuring right on for 21 wks.

Re: Wrong gender
Well, congratulations on the little surprise! Two boys are great fun to have back to back.... I will admit that I can understand your feelings of your girl being "taken away" though. I was told at 16 wks that we are having a girl and we are paying to have a 3D u/s done to confirm it on the 2nd of Feb and I just keep thinking, "what if...???" I don't know how I would have reacted to finding out that we were having a 3rd little boy at the 16 wk u/s but I know that NOW I will have mixed feelings and some let down if I find that my little girl is now a little boy. Just a little adjustment, that's all! Still, a boy is going to be a wonderful blessing and I bet that once he's here you will never be able to imagine having a girl in his place!
If I may ask...how many weeks were you when you had the last u/s done?

Re: Wrong gender
I was 19wks when I had my last U/S. Funny thing is that a few days ago I had a dream that I had brought my little girl home from the hospital and when I was changing her diaper I saw that she had little boy parts. Weird!

Re: Wrong gender
I totally and completely believe in the power of dreams when it comes to pg women- esp about their pgs/babies! Before knowing the gender with any of mine I had very specific gender dreams each time and every time they were spot on. I also always dreamed about my bfps before I got one IRL...before the dreams my tests were always bfn! Sounds like a bunch of silliness but I'm not kidding! So, it sounds to me like your Mommy intuition kicked into gear there!
I am surprised that they told you the wrong gender at 19 wks though...usually by that far along they are pretty good at getting it right. My tech told me that she would be closer to the 100% certainty mark if I had been 19-20 wks. Did you guys get to see the "girl" parts at 19 wks or did they tell you there just were no boy parts to be seen? I only have like a million questions because I'm a bit of a spaz about the possibility of ours being wrong and so I'm just curious about how your scan went when they told you each time... Sorry I'm being so nosy (you can tell me to can it if I'm prying too much! )

Re: Wrong gender
They didnt actually see any girl parts. The tech was looking for boy parts between its legs and didnt find anything so I guess that's why they just assumed it was a girl and told me girl.
I totally believe in the dream thing only because I've had so many crazy ones that turn out to be true.

Re: Wrong gender
Shame on them then for telling you a gender w/o proof of the parts for either gender! That's supposed to be a big no-no when determining the gender...but I guess it's a case of the tech can tell ya whatever they want!
Still, it's cool that your little man wasn't shy this time and didn't make you wait out the whole pg to get a big ol' shock at the end. Maybe he was trying to avoid being brought home from the hospital in pink! Smart boy!
Thanks for answering my q's!

Re: Wrong gender
What a shock! Well let me say congratulations on your boy! Sorry that you have to get used to the idea all over again but I agree - much better to know now. Very cool about your dream - I guess your sub-conscious self knew the truth!

Re: Wrong gender
yeah for another boy.... I've heard a few times of stories of women being told one gender only to find out later it's the opposite. Congrats on another boy!

Re: Wrong gender
Oh no! What a shock! I totally know how you feel, though - our dr kept telling us ds2 was a girl until a WEEK before he was born, when he finally showed the goods! I was so surprised, everyone in the office heard me yell, "It's a BOY?!" I knew there was a chance my little girl could be a boy though, since we didn't have proof of a girl, just lack of a boy. Congrats on another little boy, having two is a challenge, but definately a blessing!

Re: Wrong gender
Oh no! But I agree, I totally think mommy's dreams are true. In fact this is the first one that I have been wrong on! I have had nothing but boy dreams with this one and yet at our U/S they told us this baby "lacked boy parts" although he wouldn't commit to girl either...we go back in 5 more weeks to look again. I still have a hard time calling it a girl because I was so sure by my dreams that it was a boy! Guess we will see.
I agree shame on the tech for not saying that they couldn't tell for sure...at least you know now and not later when all you have is pink!

Re: Wrong gender
Oh man!!! Congrats on a baby boy, but sorry for the mistake they made.... Im so scared of that as the pic the tech gave me looks nothing like the pic of the girl parts they gave me with my youngest DD.
All my stuff is pink now too!!
This happened to my sister,... she was told girl, turned out a boy!

Re: Wrong gender
Yikes, what a bummer they told you the wrong gender w/out proof. Sorry about that, but congrats on having a little boy!!! Glad you found out now and not at birth.

Re: Wrong gender
Oh no! All of you are making me so nervous that the tech was wrong with us! I just ordered a little pink and purple butterfly set for the baby room, and we've told family that we are having a girl. I am SUCH a planner, and my reaction to discovering a boy at delivery would be interesting, to say the least. Not that I would be disappointed with a boy. After all, I thought we were having a boy up until our u/s at 20 weeks. But, oh my! What a shock! And the thought of having to exchange everything so the poor child wouldn't have to wear pink onesies...ugh!! It's a good thing you found out NOW!

Re: Wrong gender
ok, I sound dumb but have to ask....is "three lines" proof of girl? My mother has bought so many girl outfits, I think she needs an intervention (lol)
