Default What will baby wear at the hospital?

I'm not sure what to do about this. You'd think third time around, I'd know, but I am curious as to what you all have done and plan on doing. With ds1, I'd put clothes we brought from home on him, and whever he'd go to the nursery (which was kind of frequently) he'd come back with them off, and a t-shirt on. So, when ds2 was born, I just left him in the hospital t-shirt until we went home. But, he only went away from me a couple of times when he HAD to. So, I am wondering if I bring my own clothes from home, will they stay on him? Having just the t-shirt and diaper made it easier for diaper changes, and for the nurses to do their checks, and it was easier on his belly button, but they only get to wear newborn sizes for so long, ya know?

With DS, I kept him the t-shirt they provided. It was just easier for skin-to-skin, diaper changes, etc. I put him in his own clothes for pics and to go home.

I think they are easier to care for with just the hospital shirt and swaddling during the hospital stay.

You ladies think of everything - I'm thinking they are going to revoke my "mommy" status for not knowing all this Anyway, think I'll take a onesie or 2 since our hospital keeps baby rooming in 24/7 and make decisions from there. I'd like Natalie to be in something cute for visitors!

I brought sleepers and onesies for Max to wear too. I wanted him to wear his own clothes right away for some reason. He only kept the hospital t-shirt on for the first day and then he wore stuff that we brought. We were in the hospital for 4 days so it was fun to be able to dress him ourselves.

While in the hospital I kept both of the kiddos in the t-shirts. I always swaddles them up in their own blankets. I just felt the T-shirt was easier for diaper changes and etc. However, I always changed them for the hospital pics and then they had a coming home outfit. Both of my kiddos came home in TX Longhorn apparel so Kohen will have to keep with burnt orange tradition. I need to start looking for her picture outfit and coming home outfit.

I just kept Aislyn in the T-shirt/ diaper ensamble the hospital provided untill shortly before we went home. It made diaper changes much easier, and due to the fact that she was swaddled 80% of the time, you couldn't tell what she was wearing anyways. Looking back I also remember the exploding diapers of infancy that ruined many, many of her cute little clothes. I would prefer to keep the usable as long as possible. Lol.

The one thing I think I will do diffrently this time around is bring a blanket from home to wrap baby in. Probably one of Aislyn's that is more gender neutral, not a new one. I feel like that was he can soft of get used to the smells that come with it, and it will be my way of personalizing what he has on.

I also remember wearing the hospital gown myself almost the whole time, wich was increadibly convienient when it came to them checking me, and for the bleeding issues, but I think that this time I will bring a robe from home, or else a couple of DH's big button up shirts, although I would hate to ruin either, being in realy clothes is a bit more comforting sometimes.

I have the coming home outfit but also I packed up some onsies and a swaddling blanket. I just remember with my dd and ds always having to wrap and rewrap them over and over to try to keep them swaddled. I dont know if it was like that with any of you other ladies. I wasnt sure if that was normal or if it was b/c my babies were not small. 8 lbs 1 ounce and 8 lbs 13 ounces.

Just the outfit that the hospital provides...much easier for diaper changes and dr. checks... But I do bring 2 outfits(not knowing how big the baby would be) to change into to go home.

I haven't really thought about that. I'll probably bring a few outfits and onesies of my own. I'll definately be bringing my own blankets. I've also got a few cute hats I'd want to put on her. I still need to figure out what her picture & coming home outfits are going to be.

I just use the hospital t-shirts and blankets but bring a couple of hats from home. I'm also taking 2 outfits, one for a boy and one for a girl since we're having a surprise.

With DS, I never really thought to bring clothes for him to wear except his coming home outfit so he was just in the t-shirts the whole time. It made things a lot easier so this time, I plan on doing the same thing but bringing 1 outfit just in case (and also to be used for pictures).

In the past we have done the hospital T & diaper in the hospital Especially because it's so easy for the skin to skin contact that they recommend for nursing. We have brought neutral coming home outfits each time - I found a cute white one this time, but I might actually get one of each this time...

As someone above mentioned I did bring my own 'clothes' for l & d with Max. (I didn't have a bag w/ me when I was induced w/ Dessa.) I was much more comfortable in my own camisole than in a hospital gown.

I just use the hospital tee shirt and diaper. She is going to be wrapped up in a receiving blanket anyway.

I will be bringing a coming home outfit with me.

I bring clothes. I loved to dress my little girl up. I really liked those cotton sleepers that are like a sleep sack but with an open bottom. They have an elastic band around the bottom. Sorry I can't find a pic. It makes it really easy to change diapers, but they are so cute!

And Megan, I kept having to re-swaddle Rachel again and again too. She was 8 lbs. The little receiving blankets that everyone gave to us were so cute, but basically worthless b/c they were so small. I ended up loving these blankets for swaddling, b/c they were a little bigger & stretchy so she actually stayed wrapped up. Gerber Thermal Receiving Blanket- Sage - Gerber Childrenswear - Babies "R" Us
B/c she was a summer baby, it was nice that they were lightweight too, so she didn't get too hot.

I think we'll bring a few outfits from home so that we have the option. I haven't really made my mind up one way or another, and I guess it just depends on whats easier.

I mostly keep them in the white T and diaper, as others have siad it is so much easier for nurse and doc checks and for diaper changes, etc. I did bring some gowns for both my babies and put them in those for the last little while as they are still really easy for diaper changin, etc. I don't do onsies while they're in the hospital, those are very inconvenient for all the checks, etc. I always bring a couple of coming home outfits so I can see what fits the best.

With my DS he wore either just a diaper and a receiving blanket swaddled around him or this very annoying gown like thing that he managed to slip out of regardless who put him in it. I had a coming home outfit for him and that was it. With my DD we were only there for 3.5 hours so I dressed her in her coming home sleeper and we left after she got weighed and wiped down (her first bath was at home).
This time since I'm not sure how long I plan on staying in the hospital I will be bringing a few onesies and a coming home sleeper plus the "blankie" I picked out for Henry.
