What should I do?....
I have been having period like cramps since about 7:30am. At one point they went away. They feel like waves. So the cramps will intensify (not too painful but uncomfortable) and then they will subside, however not going away all the way. They don't come at regular times...they are sporadic. I have had these in the past but they usually go away. This time though it seems like they just keep going. I am not worried about it, it's more annoying than anything. I called my Dr.'s nurse and she talked to the Dr. She said that if I have more than 6 in an hour to go to triage. I have had more than 6 but I just dont' want to go to L&D and look like an idiot. I am sure they are nothing, but because this is my first pregnancy, I also don't know what I am looking for as in contractions and such. I don't want to seem like a hypochondriac either...which I am far from. I tend to want to take the pain as long as I can take it before doing anything about it. So I honestly have no idea what to do. I see my dr. tomorrow for my normal checkup anyway, should I just live with it and see her tomorrow?
What do you ladies think?

Re: What should I do?....
Hey it's your 1st pregnancy and you have never been through this before so you do not really know what to expect and what you body is up to and etc. BTW, you are following DR orders and you are not going to look like an idiot. It does sound like you are having contractions, but they are just not regular yet. Your body is making progress and getting ready. Who knows...you may pick up a rhythm here shortly and this may be the beginning of labor or it could just your body getting ready. My theory is it is always better to go to l&d and have everything checked out than to stay up all night worrying about what is going on. Good luck and keep us posted!!

Re: What should I do?....
I didn't want to look like an idiot last night either...and was sure I was going to actually...and I ended up spending 10 hrs in L&D trying to get my irritable uterus to calm down. It really is best to be safe than sorry. I hope that at this point you going to go in to get cked out and hopefully have them put a stop to whatever is going on....it's still just a wee bit early!

Re: What should I do?....
Sounds like what I was having when I went in for preterm contractions at 25 weeks. I had them the whole night before, but didn't go to L&D for the same reasons. I had an appointment the next day and just ended up waiting. My midwife ended up admitting me. So I think maybe you should go in. Better to be safe then sorry! Please keep us updated!

Re: What should I do?....
Alright well i took myself down to triage and after all day of contractions i waited as long as possible to go down. So i get there and just my luckthe contractions stop. I felt stupid and the nurse there didn't help. But i guess safer than sorry. I am still having cramps just not the contractions. Weird i say. Her heart rate was shooting to 175 down to 117 all over the place and she definitely let everyone know she is there. Tons of kicking. The nurse checked me and im still not dialated which is good.

Re: What should I do?....
A least you went in and got checked out...now you can rest easy tonight knowing that you have not been dilating at all yet! I tend to do the same thing- contract til I get to the hosp and then they slow way down or seem to stop. Not a bad thing, really, except that it makes you kinda look like a nut to some people. Sorry the nurses weren't more help to you...but you did the right thing.

Re: What should I do?....
So I am sitting in bed relaxing...it's been an hour and a half since I have been back and now the contractions are starting up again. I don't think I will go in though, I will just wait to talk to my Dr. tomorrow. These things always seem to happen....having something going on, then when I go to the Dr. or whatever, it stops....then as soon as I am home again it starts up again. Typical me. lol
Anyway, I will just talk to my Dr. tomorrow. Thanks Ladies!!! =)

Re: What should I do?....
Im glad that everything is ok and your not dialating yet!
I have had that happen several times where I will have contractions 2-3 minutes apart for several hours. They are always just crampy so I dont go in. The NP was upset with me when she found out about it later on. lol
With me though, I did the same thing with my son every night for weeks and weeks and still didnt have him till 39w3d.
Its good that you went in though b/c especially since this is your first you dont know yet what it means. For some people having those kinds of contractions means somethings happening.
Let us know what your doctor says!

Re: What should I do?....
I'm glad things stopped, if only temporarily. I know how you feel about not wanting to go in. I always hate to call or go in for fear of looking clueless.

Re: What should I do?....
I'm glad you went in. Hopefully your Dr. will be able to give you more info. I say follow their directions - if they say 6 in an hour just go w/ that. I wouldn't worry about not knowing if it's "really" labor - because you can't necessarily tell. Hope your apt goes well!

Re: What should I do?....
Glad everything is OK My problem is more with wasting ungodly amounts of time above looking stupid. I don't know about your hospital, but mine, I'd be sitting there forever so if I wan't in labor when I got there, I'd probably be by the time they checked me!

Re: What should I do?....
Glad you got checked out, even if they stopped while you were there and started back up again. Isn't it frustrating? Good luck at the Dr's

Re: What should I do?....
Any update from the dr? I'm the same way with having tons of ctx, then they go away as soon as I get there, and it's my 4th. Yes it was worse with my 1st (not knowing what to expect), but there are still things that creep up every pg. that I'm not sure about. I think it's just part of being pg. No worries, better safe than sorry.

Re: What should I do?....
Thanks ladies for making me feel better. Went to the dr today she said everything looks good and that she is glad i went in. She said that there is no such thing as being a hypochondriac when your pregnant. She did say once i hit 36 weeks that there is no such thing as too many contractions. I have to say after the trip to triage i am a little hesitant on going back. Baby looks good though. The nurse at triage was impressed on how much my little girl was moving. i will have my hands full lol. Thank you

Re: What should I do?....
I'm glad that it all worked out for you and the baby...it sounds like you have a much more understanding/smart doctor than the nurses you had to deal with the other day!
