Default Thank you Sarab!

Sara - Thank you SO much for mentioning your co-sleeper in a previous thread. My DH picked one up from the store yesterday, and we tried it out for the first time last night. She slept for 5 hours straight without fussing when I put her down, and I slept better knowing she was right there. How wonderful!!! Thanks again!

I'm interested in finding out more about this co-sleeper! I must've missed the post where Sara mentioned the name....could you share it with me or post a link? We swore up and down that our little girl would NOT sleep in the bed with us......but when it comes down to her Mommy getting some sleep....LOL....she ends up in bed next to me and sleeps atleast 3-4 hours at a time! I'm just scared to death that something is going to happen.

We bought The First Years Close and Secure Sleeper. It's cheapest at amazon, but we didn't want to wait for shipping so we got it at Target. We LOVE it!!

This looks great, but how does it work with side-lying nursing? I end up falling asleep seconds after he latches on, and he ends up sleeping the whole night in our bed. If I try to put him in the bassinette (right next to our bed) he'll sleep for all of 15 minutes before he wakes up and wants to nurse.

Yeah, you'd have to lift your baby up a bit to place him back into the sleeper (the sides are about 4 inches or so tall). I've had a lot of side pain from my c-section, so I can't nurse on my side right now anyway. But, I can tell you that Kayden would only sleep for about 15 minutes in her bassinette right next to our bed, but she sleeps beautifully in the sleeper. I don't know if it's because she can open her eyes and see us right next to her, or if it's because she can smell me more, or if it's just cozier because it's smaller. But, that was the best sleep I've gotten since she was born!

Wow.....I NEVER thought if my self as a co-sleeper but I have to say that it sounds good especially since I am alone. I am too scared to bring her to my bed to sleep but this might be a solution. The only thing I worry about is the sleeping pattern when she is older as we do not want a "family" bed. My DH and I want our own space so I worry about co-sleeping. Anyone have this issue?

My pedi supports co-sleeping, as she practiced it with her own children. She has advised us to move her to her own room by the age of 3 months, and I plan on following her guidance on how to do this. The plan for now is to gradually transition from the co-sleeper (which she will likely outgrow right around the age of 3 months) to her bassinet (if she still meets the weight requirements) to her crib. We'll see... But, we certainly don't want a "family bed" situation either. After all, with our cat and the giant pregnancy pillow I slept with between us, I think we're ready for a little cuddle time!

I'm so glad you were able to get more sleep!!!!
Here's the link to the one we bought. Supreme Snuggle Nest with Incline - Baby Delight - Babies "R" Us
It's a little pricey but totally worth the sleep I'm getting.

All our kids have been in bed w/ us while they nursed a lot at night & it hasn't been a problem to get them sleeping on their own when they were bigger. I'm not sure why - but I just thought it might be a good thing to hear if anyone is worrying about the transition later.
