Icon8 Target Registry

Just need to vent....

Less than a month ago, after my MIL pitched a fit about me only having a registry at BRU, I dragged my DH to Target and we did a gift registry for the baby.

Well, my MIL just called and told me that several of the things I had registered for in the store are only available online now! So I checked out my registry and sure enough, there are some things....BIG things....ALL of my BIG things, might I add.....that are now only available online. And most of them are out-of-stock anyway! The high chair, the travel system, and the pack 'n play. I registered less than a month ago!!!

We are driving up to Ohio on Friday and my MIL is throwing me a baby shower.....a little early, but this is the only time we'll be able to come up to visit before the baby arrives.

I thought to myself, "Well, I didn't really have my heart set on these particular ones..." and so I looked through some of the other options on the web site. The majority of them were only available ONLINE! And I can't exactly run to our nearest Target (it's an hour away) to replace those items on my registry for something else that's still available in the stores. So I'm just a little annoyed/ticked-off.

Oh well, I guess if people are dead-set on buying me a stroller, pack 'n play, or high chair, they can just go to BRU and get the stuff off my registry that I really want. Forget Target.

Target does kind of suck for this sort of thing. Everyone I know uses the Target registry at some point and guess what- this sort of thing happens with some of the items EVERY TIME! If the item itself isn't unavailable then they have moved the item # for some reason so when you go and look for the item it is missing from the spot- completely relocated...but it's up to the person with the registry to update these things...How would you even know about that???

If I were you I would just keep the big ticket items on the BRU registry and keep the target registry for things like onesies, bath supplies, diapers and stuff like that- the basic necessities. Because you are right- anyone who is interested in getting you the bigger items can go to BRU (esp since those are the patterns that you REALLY prefer!). I think that you can edit your registry online...that way you don't have to drive to the store.

Sorry about the headache that it's caused you up to this point though!

I agree. My SIL registered at Target and she barely got anything off of her registry because everyone went to the store and nothing was available so they just bought other stuff that they picked out themselves. Most people at her shower were compaining about the registry. Plus, Target is really hard for returns. Stick with BRU--they are super helpful and have a ton of stuff in the store. Good luck and have a fun shower.

Lurking from DIJuly
The return policy is HORRIBLE! With my DD I swore I would NEVER go back there or register there again. If you get towels- you are only allowed to take them back and get something that woudl fit into a "bath linens" category. Like rags!!!!!!
If you get a bottle product, it can ONLY be swapped out for another bottle item!
UGH! It drove me crazy. I recieved 12 crib sheets... And I didn't even register for them. I went to the counter with the pretty outfits I wanted to exchange them for and the woman laughed at me and said I could only swap that amount (of crib sheets) for another product in the linens department..... It took me and DH 2 and 1/2 hours to figure out our returns, and we wasted so much money.
Sorry- I just hate Target returns!

Is it too late to register at BRU? I think you can even do it online.

Target sounds like a real pain. I think that I will pass on registering there.

I think that if you like the patterns better at BRU that I would stick with that... though your shower is this weekend so that is hard.

Yes, ditto on Target and returns. It's not worth the hassle. And things are very hard to find there, especially for people not familiar w/ the baby section.

If your MIL (and anyone else) can't get to a BRU, ask for a Target gift card. Or maybe register somewhere else like Wal Mart where you can put the carseat, stroller, things like that on there. Don't register at Baby Depot/Burlington Coat Factory because their return policy is even worse than Target's.

This is probably the first of many incidences of MIL telling you what to do as far as your baby is concerned. It starts w/ the registry then only goes downhill from there
"Are you sure you want to give him that?"
"Don't you need to put a hat on him?"
"Are you really going to let him get addicted to a paci?"
So, my point, start getting her to back off now with the easy stuff because it started just like this w/ my MIL- LOL

Wow, that's pretty crappy. We don't have target here in Canada so I don't know much about it, and I haven't done any registries yet so I'm not much of a help. Have fun at your shower though!
