Stupid Things People Say
Last night we were at my aunt's house when her neighbor came by for a visit. She looked at me and "Yep, you can definitely tell you are having a girl! You've gotten fat all over!"
WTH!!! You don't tell a pregnant lady she is fat! Plus I was kneeling on the floor with Max, so my legs probably looked bigger, because she then said, "Especially in your legs and face."
I had no idea what to say!! I've tried so hard to not gain a ton of weight this pregnancy. I'm up 15 lbs so far at almost 30 weeks. I was thinking that wasn't SO bad, but now I feel fat and frumpy.
Why do people have to open their big ole' mouths!?

Yikes...etiquette! You don't tell a non-pregnant person that they're fat in the face and legs, so why would you tell a pg person!?! Your weight gain is awesome! I'm floating around the 20lb mark...now it makes me fear what I look like to others.

Re: Stupid Things People Say
Im sorry, thats an awful thing for her to say!!
A couple of days ago my SIL and I went to a chinese restraunt for dinner and the woman that worked there asked me if I was having twins and I told her it was only 1 and she said "O big baby, big baby". I was like "yeah, I have big babies".
I still dont know if I should be insulted or not... I do have big babies... Not HUGE though. My daughter was 8 lbs 1ounce and my son was 8 lbs 13 ounces.
I would be pretty mad though if someone told me I was fat. Thats just awful. And you ARE doing a good job with your weight, I have gained 30 lbs so far.

Re: Stupid Things People Say
Oooh I hate when people say stuff like that! When I was working and pregnant with Ava customers would basically fight with me over the gender. "What are you having?" - Oh a girl - "No It must be a boy your stomach is so pointy!!"
Thanks a lot people. Now my self esteem is that much lower.

Re: Stupid Things People Say
that is so mean!! I don't understand why it's ok to say that to a pregnant woman! You should have said "What's your excuse?" or more passive-agressively: "Yeah well at least it's pregnancy and not just neglectful weight gain (coupled with a sideways glance toward HER belly)."

Re: Stupid Things People Say
People can be insensitive to begin with...I just don't understand why it gets worse when you are pregnant. That would have totally irked me. Lots of things people have been saying irks me. I think you look great Brandi!

Re: Stupid Things People Say
I'll vote for the smacking pass. People don't stop to think that things they say can hurt. As a parent we would correct a child, but adults are rude and get away with it.
Your weight gain is awesome, I'm closing in on 25. Stay healthy for you and the baby.

Re: Stupid Things People Say
I seriously don't understand why people think it's ok to say these things....to pregnant or non-pregnant people! It's rude either way.
I say that 15lbs is excellent weight control and we all know it's more important about what's best for the baby!!
You're doing great

Re: Stupid Things People Say
I don't get it either - and most of the people who say these things have been pregnant themselves! Don't take it to heart, she was just rude.

Re: Stupid Things People Say
OMG, what an IDIOT!!! I am so sorry she said that to you. I totally agree with the other ladies, there are a lot of stupid comments floating around out there. When I was pregnant w/my first dd, complete strangers would say, "oh it must be a boy, your stomach is sticking straight out in front." Yeah, I'm sure the 3 ultrasounds saying she was a girl are wrong then. Plus, I don't even know you...why are you inspecting my stomach???!!! I don't know why people say the stupid things they do. Sorry. BTW, 15 lbs is awesome, I am closer to 25 too.

Re: Stupid Things People Say
People should just zip it if they do not have anything nice to day. You look great and have done wonderful on the weight gain. I would just ignore her comments. Yesterday I was at my cardio appt and a lady told me wow, you could drop that baby any day. I just smiled and said, well I have about 3 months left. She didn't say anything after that:-)
