Shauna update

Hi ladies. Megan PM'd me and was wondering how Shauna was doing. Here's what I told her.

They got the PIC line in. She has lost more weight (7 pounds), but the baby is getting bigger. Up to 2.2 pounds. Poor girl. They keep losing the IV's in her hand and foot. She's pretty frustrated and still in pain.

From today:

I just got off the phone with her and she's a pretty unhappy camper. They told her she might be able to go home for just the weekend, but changed their minds. She has blood clots now and is on yet another med for that. The TPN should help her and the baby gain some weight and get the nutrients they need. She has an U/S on Monday to see how the baby is doing. They told her she may be able to go home in a week if they can find a good nurse to take care of her there. She would have to be on strict bedrest, but Shauna assures me that would not be an issue because she is hooked up to so many tubes that getting around is difficult anyway. They want to try and ween her off the pain meds so they can administer it to her in patch form. She can't give herself injections and she can't take anything by mouth because it would just come back up. They are most likely going to deliver this baby at 34 weeks or whenever her lungs are mature.

Monica - thanks for the update. I have been thinking of her daily. I'm sending strength vibes to her & her baby girl. Could you let her know we are thinking of her?

Jana, Shauna is a DIM member - she's been in the hospital for several weeks now. I believe the main cause is a heart condition that became a problem when her daughter was born.

Please tell her we continue to send P&PT and hope she can get home soon, feeling much better!

Thank you so much for updating us Monica! Im so sorry she is going through so much right now. I hope that it will work out for her to be cared for at home my a nurse.
