Default Scared to go off of the turbutaline!

Well, I have been on 3-4 doses of turbutaline a day since my trip to L&D on Sunday. I take it every 6 hours, and I want the dose when it comes due, my contractions in my back are so painful, For some reason yesterday I have contractions 3-6 minutes apart for an hour and a half all in my back, I swore to DH I was dying. LOL but then I got my dose of turbutaline and I was better, not great by any means, but better.

Now I am so scared to go off the turbutaline in 4 days becuase I am so scared that my labor is going to be so bad, and it is not even worth it becuase I am having a c-section!!! IT is so unfair!!!!!!

Anyone else every been on turbutaline and been scared to come off becuase you know the pain? I just wish that my pain would count, it does not matter how much I labor, I am getting cut open anyway!!! URGH

You poor thing. I have no advice for you because I have never been on it. Good luck and I hope that when you go off of the turbutaline the contractions will stay away until your c/s. What happens if your contractions get really bad will you just be able to go to l&D and have the c/s earlier than the scheduled date or will they give you more meds?? BTW, when is your scheduled c/s?? I'm sure you posted it somewhere, but I can not remember.

yeah when is the csection? I mean if the contractions are not stopping and the meds arent working.... Id be worried you are delaying something that you shouldnt be. That is just me. How long do they want you to wait on those meds? What are the meds doing to the baby? Id ask these questions to the doc.

I would assume that you are stopping the terb at 36 wks, per dr orders???? If that's the case, will they do the c/s if your labor starts back full force? When I was in the hospital with my twins, the dr was going to stop the mag sulfate and terb I was on because the risk/benefit ratio changes for the baby after 36 wks. I ended up delivering just shy of that, so I don't know what the labor would have been like. I hope you aren't suffering in pain long after you stop the terb. I would be a little scared too if I knew I'd be in a lot of pain.

Well when I was given the turbutaline, my contractions still kept happening, and at first they were worse then before the medication. But then they eventually went away. Sounds like your body is just really ready to have your little guy out. I wouldn't try to stress about it too much. Baby's going to come out one way or another and it's pretty much a guarentee that it's going to be a little bit painful. Hopefully you'll have a speedy anthestiologist!
