reflux?
How do you know if your baby has reflux? Reid spits up more than any of my other kid did, usually after every feeding. The last couple of days he seems hungry all the time too. He seems to be gaining well (9lbs 3oz today), since he's put on over a pound in the last 2 weeks. He also has plently of wet an poopy diapers. But I'm wondering about his spitting up, and someone mentioned he might have reflux. Should I call the pedi if I think he has it even though he gaining weight, since he's not due for an appt for another month?

Re: reflux?
Does he seem to be in pain or not want to eat at all? I think those are two main things the doctor will look for to determine if he has reflux. He may just be taking in a lot of air when he eats.
However, a call the ped. never hurt. As long as he's gaining well and is happy, I would think he may be ok.

Re: reflux?
I would call & ask about it. I hope he gets over all this spitting up soon!

Re: reflux?
Exactly the opposite...he wants to eat all the time! He doesn't seem to be in any pain. I do have a pretty strong let down, so maybe he just isn't used to it yet, and he does sound like he gulps air sometimes. But he gets the hiccups ALL the time, like after every feeding, and usually spits up at the start of the hiccups.

Re: reflux?
It sounds like maybe 2 things. However, just like the rest said a call to the Pedi never hurts. The wanting to eat all the time could be a growth spurt. How old is he now?? Maybe he is ging through a growth spurt and that is why he is wanting to eat all the time. The spit up sounds like it could be the air intake from your let down. Is he a burper? Will he burp if you try to burp him?? I could pat my other 2 kids on the back all day long and they would never burp so, when we were in the hospital and Kohen kept spitting up, they ask me if I was burping her and it really never occurred to me to attempt to burp her since my other 2 did not burp. So, in our case burping seemed to help our spit up problem. So, maybe it's the air that is causing the spitting up and burping will help. Good luck and I hope it gets better for Mr Reid.

Re: reflux?
He's a month old now. I think burping could be an issue. Sometimes, he burps as soon as he gets upright, other times, I can't get him to burp at all. He does seem gassy sometimes too, so it's probably just trapped air. I was wondering since it was mentioned about the reflux and I don't have any experience with that.

Re: reflux?
Lurking from BIA-
My son is 7 weeks now. We had the same issue except he was in pain some times. Our pediatrician told us to add rice cereal to his milk. We had a teaspoon of it for every ounce. Since it is thicker, he keeps it down better. To deal with the pain that may be reflux, we put him on Zantac.
