Newborn diapers
What brand are you planning on using? Our hospital uses Pampers Swaddlers, but I have a box of Huggies Supreme that I got as a gift. I've always used the Pampers brand and love how soft the diapers are, but I like the shape of the Huggies. Has anyone used Huggies newborn diapers? Did you like them?

Re: Newborn diapers
I am going to try Pampers and Huggies and go from there. My MIL made a few diaper cakes with all kinds of diapers so I will have alot to "sample". I think I used huggies at first with DS then switched to pampers

Re: Newborn diapers
As of now I'm just planning on using whatever I get from my shower. Then after I've tried out a few brands, I'll decide from there.

Re: Newborn diapers
I think both work fine. I used mostly Pampers last time with DS, but as long as they don't leak and babies comfy, then either will work. I think I used the Pampers Swaddlers just b/c they were so soft!

Re: Newborn diapers
I will use pampers swaddlers atleast while she is little. I think they are soft and great against leaks. When she gets bigger I will see what works good then.

Re: Newborn diapers
I LOVE Pampers Swaddlers! When Kate got into size 3s I switched to BRU brand diapers. They are much cheaper and by then I was already pregnant and thinking about having 2 in diapers. They work well but you can't let them go too long before changing them or they will leak. I also can't use them at night because Kate pees a lot at night. For night time we use Huggies Overnights. We never had a leak in Pampers though.

Re: Newborn diapers
my experience has been that all diapers work just fine. I have used so many different brands and types of diapers and none of them really stand out above others. We use huggies out of habit and because we get them at costco, but really all others that I have tried have been just fine!
I will say this though--many of my friends complain that huggies leak and we figured out that the reason for that is that they didn't take time to separate the inner liner from the diaper pad (if that makes any sense) because sometimes they get stuck from glue etc. But all you have to do is run your finger along the inner elastic to make sure it is separated. I just do this out of habit with all diapers now.

Re: Newborn diapers
I think Pampers Swaddelrs are the best for the beginning because they are so soft and the babies are so little and I just want them to be super comfortable. Through two kids I have tried every diaper out there and there are mazing differences between one diaper to the next. As far as Huggies, definitely go with the Supreme if you are using them. Ottherwise we stick to Pampers Swaddlers until the baby can fit into Costco diapers, we LOVE those! Recently I had to buy my 2 yr. old Pampers Cruisers because we were out of Costco and it was convenient and we hated using them for her, my DH even commeneted that the Costco are way better for her.
All that being said, don't waste the newborn Huggies you already have, unless you can return them and get Swaddlers, I'd say use em.

Re: Newborn diapers
I too have used both and when they are newborns I too perfer the Pamper Swaddlers. They are just so soft and comfy. When DD outgrew swaddlers I switched to Huggies because at the time I was also buying diapers for DS and I got more diapers for the money with Huggies. So Huggies stuck and I still use those for DD today, but I plan to start out with Swaddlers for Kohen. Now if I happen to get any diapers as baby gifts I will use whatever I get. Since I will still have 2 in diapers....Kensley and Kohen I will not be picky:-) Diapers are expensive!! I was just looking at diapers the other day at Target and they were almost 40 bucks for newborns. We get all of our diapers from Sams and they are a tad cheaper, but holy man 40 bucks for diapers!!

Re: Newborn diapers
After 3 kids I've tried them all, except the cosco brand b/c we don't have one here. And I agree there a HUGE diffrences between brands (also every baby is diffrent). I LOVE both HS and PS. With my first 2 they could only use HS because everything else leaked, and broke them out. And then when Hannah was born she could only use PS/PC for the same reasons. Then for this baby I have a mix of both (about 3 pks each) and then I'll go from there. Anyway I say keep them every baby is diffrent and they might work better for your baby.

Re: Newborn diapers
I've used mainly huggies (non-supreme) I liked them & will probably go w/ them again. Max was a leaker - but when I tried other brands it was the same. Just an odd ball thing - Pampers have a smell to them that bothers me - I can tell if there's a package in the room.
I'm thinking about trying part-time cloth diapers - can anyone give me the lowdown on cloth diapering?

Re: Newborn diapers
I had purchased a pack of Pampers swaddlers for Natalie, but when it came down to buying preemie diapers, the Huggies were 30 per pack vs 20 for swaddlers for the same price, AND they had the umbilicle cord cut-out thing.... Kind of a no-brainer.

Re: Newborn diapers
We used Pampers swaddlers for my ds. He was sensitive to the Huggies ones so we ended up giving those away. Our plan this time is to use the PS until she is about 3 months and then switch over to cloth.

Re: Newborn diapers
I always start out with the Pampers Swaddlers. Then after about 3 months I switch to Luvs. The Luvs newborns I don't feel are soft enough.
Now, I haven't tried the Huggies Supreme? newborns. Hmm I wonder if they are cheaper than Pampers?

Re: Newborn diapers
We started out with Pampers(I think) with both kids. I've never liked Huggies...they leak too much and can't contain the explosions up the back! I only bought the newborn size with DD since she was so little, but DS moved right into size 1. AFter a month, we switched to Walmart brand or to Teddy's Choice...cheaper and works just as well. DS is still in Walmart brand diapers...no complaints from them! And if you're wanting the little bit cut out for the umbilical cord...just fold down the diaper top.

Re: Newborn diapers
I used pampers swaddlers with my son and then switched over to the pampers cruisers when he was out of the swaddlers. I loved the pampers diapers, and found the huggies leaked a lot with him. So far for this little one I've bought one package of newborn swaddlers, two packages of size 1 swaddlers and a box of size 2 swaddlers, and then at my baby shower on the weekend I got another package of size 1 swaddlers, a package of size 1 baby dry pampers and a package of size 2 huggies. I also got a diaper cake made with various types of diapers so I will be trying out an assortment with this little one.

Re: Newborn diapers
This is a great thread... I was just thinking I should buy a pack of newborn diapers and I have a $5 off a box of pampers coupon for BRU. I think I will buy a box of pampers swaddlers to try.

Re: Newborn diapers
With all 4 of my mine I used LUVS because they were the best diaper IMO for the price and they dont leak Huggies was like putting a clothe diaper on without plastic pants and so you can imagine he mess. They leaked really bad for us. I havent used Pamper Swaddlers, so I may pick up a package or 2 of those too.. I have to say though, the Pampers Sensitve Baby Wipes ARE THE BEST! I love those things!!! I have those on my registry and sure hope I get a few packages of those.

Re: Newborn diapers
We always use the Huggies Newborn (usually only need 1 pack -- except my preemie was in them for a while) and then usually go by the baby. Our experience with our three has been that the Huggies has always worked with the girl and Pampers always worked with the boys.
So, we've only gotten our Newborn diapers so far -- then we'll go from there. I think they are both great....I've never tried anything else.

Re: Newborn diapers
We got a box of Pampers newborn diapers for my shower so I'll be using them first of all anyway. After that I'll probably see which is cheapest. The kids I nanny for are in huggies and I've never had a problem with those.
I actually opened the packet of diapers last nite and I cannot get over how teeny they are!!!! The baby I mind is only 6 months old so its not that long since I was using newborn diapers on him but I really forgot how small they are. Sooooo cute!!!! I can't wait
