My OB doesn't say much...

I showed him my rash... he said nothing.. I told him that I've been itchy downtown (I feel like my yeast infection hasn't cleared) he didn't say much...

When I was ready to leave I said what do I do with this itchy rash on my belly...he said..
Calamine Lotion? - UGH...thanks!!

Oh..and it was also GBS test time...he gave me the Q-Tip to take into the washroom and do my own swab... I hope I did it right!! Anyone else do their own GBS swab?

Funny thing is..this guy is the Chief of OB at the Hospital - The hospital known for high risk pregnancies..

Sorry you did not get much support from your doc at this apt!! Seems odd that he was not very supportive....I hope you find some relief with your rash and other itchiness.

My doc did the swab but truly I could have.....I think as long as you insert it and pull it out you do not need to do much else.....it took him all of 2sec's to do mine.

That's odd he didn't do the swab, but it is pretty simple, so as long as it wasn't contaminated, I'm sure it's fine. Sorry to hear he wasn't supportive about itching and rash. Don't have any helpful tips for ya there

Huh! Even contaminated it would be fine because all they need to know is if something is there, somewhere... Not like testing for a UTI or something where they need to see if something ISN'T there. Never heard of them having you do it yourself though!

Well, sounds like he was just full of advice, support, and help. I bet you were thinking gee...I could/should have been my own OB:-) Sorry he wasn't much help today. My OB has always done the GBS test for me, but it seems like there are others on the bd that have done their own too, so I'm sure you did it right and do not have anything to worry about.

Hmmmm, sorry about the quiet Dr. That would be weird. One of the Drs. at my practice nods a lot, so I'll always ask him a second time if I don't feel like he gave me enough of an answer.
Will you see a different doc next time?

Sorry about the rash...calamine will hopefully give you relief. I've always done my own GBS swab...both with an OB and a midwife.
