My L&D trip..

So saturday night I got the stomach flu! It was the worst and by the morning I could not even keep water down. I called my OB because I was feeling so bad and they told me that I could try to wait it out at home, and just take my zofran or if it doesnt get better in a few hours go to L&D. So I tried to lay down but my heart was racing. My DH was very scared so he brought me into the hospital. I am so glad that we went because by the time I got there I was having contractions every 3-5 min due to being dehyrated. So they gave me an IV, some IV zofran, and a shot of terbutaline. That made the contractions stop thankfully.I was worried it wouldnt and couldnt imagine going into labor feeling as horrible as I did! They checked me and I am not dialated at all and he head is way up high so that is good. I stayed there most of the day and then was sent home. I still feel pretty bad and have a fever, but thankfully only a few more contractions and I can keep fluids down. I go to the doctor tomorrow, hopefully I will feel better by then. I havent eaten anything for 2 days. I cant wait for this to be over! Atleast the baby is doing great it was nice hearing her heartbeat for a few hours, I think I could have sat there all day and listened to it.

O dear, Im so sorry your so sick!! Im glad you are able to keep some fluids down now.

yikes! Feel better soon. I was thinking last night that I was getting something but luckily i never puked. But the room was spinning. I think I was just over tired. THat happens to me...even when i am not pregnant.

Sorry about the flu! Good thing DH decided to get you to the hospital...and it's great that they were able to stop the contx! I agree that going into labor on top of the flu is NOT the most ideal thing to have happen! Get some rest and lots of hydration- and food when you feel up to it- so that you can get all your strength back soon. Hope you are doing better in no time!

That sounds horrible!! You poor thing. I had the flu around 26 weeks and it was terrible!! Glad you went to L&D and they were able to get you hydrated again and the contractions stopped. However, I guess the upside to going in was that you got to listen to the baby's h/b and that made it worth the trip. Take it easy and I hope you get to feeling better soon!!

Hope you feel better soon! If you need any tips on what to start your empty tummy on, try some applesauce or yogurt or rice. If they don't want to work, try drinking them through a straw slowly. Those tend to help me some when I have problems like that. Good luck!

Oh, you poor, poor thing. That sounds horrible. It's so great that your sweet hubby took such great care of you though. I hope you are feeling better soon. So glad that the baby is doing well too. Feel better!

Sorry you had to go through that..must have been miserable... I'm glad you went to the hospital and they fixed you up...you definitely need your health and energy for when you go into labour..
