Icon8 My Horrible Appointment

Today I had an appointment and I had to see the OB that my midwife works for. She's out of town and I do need to meet with him at least once in my pregnancy. I have NEVER been treated so rudely before and by a doctor no less! He walked in and turned his back on me immeditely. Never once made eye contact with me, even while he was shaking my hand. I had the baby I nanny for with me and he never once acknowledged him. He measured me so quickly and never said if I was measuring okay. When it came time to listen to her heartbeat, he put the doppler on my stomach, found her heartbeat and then immeditely took it off. He was in and out of there so fast that I never even got to ask my questions. This made me appreciate my midwife soooo much!

This guy has the worst bedside manner. Turns out he's pretty infamous around here because of that. But every single person who says that also points out that he's the best c-section doctor in town. I was told by a friend that all the doctor's in town send their wives to see him. My mom met with him while she was pregnant with my sister and I and never cared for him. It wasn't until her hysterectomy that she realized what an amazing doctor he is. Hopefully I won't have to experience his amazing c-section skills though. I vowed that I never would see him again and I hope I won't have too!

AWWW....sorry you had such a bad experience. I HATE doctors like that....they know they are good and they get this huge ego / attitude and truly is unnecessary.

Hopefully you will not have to see him again!!!

I agree I hate drs. like that. My OB with my first 2 was like that, she was such a B!tch, but was also the best at c/s. Anyway my insurance changed with #3 and this time I'm back to the same ins. Anyway I vowed to find a new OB insted of just going back to her. One I called was in the same practice as her and they were like "well you have to have her ok and why do you even want to change". I wanted to tell the because she is a B!tch with horrid bedside manner. Anyway I found an awsome OB (not in the same practice), and I'm so glad I did. I really hope you don't need his services any more.

That stinks you had such a short and informal appt. I despise those Docs too because I always have lots of questions and usually a lot to say. Just think...you met the OB and now may you never have to see him again. Hopefully you got it over with and that's it. When do you see you mw again so you can ask all of your questions???

Thats exactly what my doctor is like now. She never tells me the heart beat, and never tells me how the baby is measuring. I never have a chance to ask her questions, because she always leaves the room immediately. The only times I've ever been told anything about Emily was when I went to go have my two ultrasounds. I almost got so fed up with her, that around 26 weeks I wanted to find a new OB, but no one had anything available for almost a month.
Thankfully you wont have to meet with him again. I'm glad that your midwife actually takes the time to keep you informed during your appointments!

Sorry it was such a lousy apt. Carley - At least you know he's a good Dr. in other ways - & maybe he's bright enough to know he's not good on bedside manner & that's why he has midwives working for him? Hope you don't have to see him when the time comes, hon.
