Default Marcus' birth story and pics...a bit long

Sorry it took a few days.Marcus has a billie blanket so we are kind of teathered to the couch.

On the 6th I went to my appt expecting to be told that we would induce on sat. instead I was told to go home grab the hubby and make the 45-1hr drive to the hospital. Got home told the hubby, who then told me there was a nail in his tire and he had to go get a new one or we were not going anywere.

Got to the hospital around 6pm(should have been there at 4pm).Around 8pm they started the pitocin, labor was very mild...mild enuff that arond 10pm I fell asleep and sleept off and on til about 1:30am.I stared off a 3 and changed to a 41/2.

At 2am the Dr. broke my water. By 3am the contrations were getting stronger but nothing I couldn't close my eyes and breath thew.Labor makes me thow up,so other than a few episodes of that labor continued til about 7am at a increasing, but tollerable rate.

At 7 i was 7. Between 7-8am I asked for some mild pain meds, don't remember what it was called but told them I could handle it where I was at but wasn't sure about and hour from then if Id be able to and just needed something to take the edge off.

8:30am I knew we were getting close and asked my nurse to get the dr. She checked and said I was 9, we were almost there but not quite . At 8:45 I asked again for the dr. she checked and said stil a 9. At 9am I told my husband it was time, that I could feel that he was "right there" and that if the nurse would not get my dr. that he needed to. He told me not to push and went to get the nurse. She told me she was going to check me and I said he is right there I can feel his head!! She ran over and sure enuff he was right there...She hollered out into the hall for help, no one came...

At 9:09am Marcus was born. The nurse didn't have anything ready, the warmer wasn't on, the cord clamps weren't out, she didn't even have her gloves on!! He took a while to get there but once he decided it was time IT WAS TIME!

She layed him on my chest as she ran to the closet were the keep all the suplise. I remembered I had an emergency button and pushed it, and told them we needed help NOW. The baby's nurse,my Dr., and the midwife I'd seen for many of my appointments had been just out of earshot the whole time! The nurse clamped the cord and cut it and the baby nurse took a now shivering Marcus to get vitals. My Dr aplogized for not being there for me, that he had been in the hall waiting for the word that I was ready. The midwife assused me that everything was okay and that I had done a wondreful job, that he was a beautiful baby, and that she was proud of me...ment alot since those are all the things my mom would have said if she could have been there.

Marcus had a hard time getting warm. After an hour of being on the warmer he stil wasn't were they wanted him to be. We decided that we should get him dressed double layered wraped him in two reciving blankets and I held him next to my cheast. He was up to temp with in about 15 min.

The rest of our hospital stay was uneventful. I recived wonderful care as did my son...can't say much for the food but that is my only complaint.

We came home saterday. He has jaundice pretty bad .2 away from going to the hospital and and urice crystals in his pee...but a billie blanket and lots of feedings to get him hydrated are working well.

It was definatly an interesting delivery, almost dosen't seem real now.
