Default Labor w/out MP or bloody show?

For those of you who go into labor on your own...

do you always have bloody show or lose your mucus plug first? Has anyone had their water break or started true labor without either indication?

Thanks!

I just asked my mom this the other day. She said that neither of those happened in her three pregnancies. She's also attended quite a few births where the only sign of impending delivery was contractions.

With my first dd, my water broke. I never had any MP loss, or bloody show (and I was watching for both). Also, I never felt any contractions beforehand. I had had some braxton hicks off & on for the last of the pregnancy, but none that hurt at all.

So water breaking was really my only sign of labor.

With my oldest, my water broke in the middle of the night. No MP, no pre-labor, nothing. Just a random thing. I was hoping that might happen again but I just read that water breaking only happens in I think 15% of cases.

With DD, I lost my mp about 2 weeks before she was born. My water broke on it's own and I did not have bloody show until an hr or 2 later. So, my water breaking was my sign I better head to the hospital because the contractions were not painful until a few hrs later at the hospital.

with my first pregnancy i did not induce and went into labor on my own. my water did not break and i had no bloody show and no mucous plug coming out. just contractions that landed me in the hospital and then my doc broke my water.

My OB told me today labor can start without bloody show, or water breaking or MP and that is why they say come in at the 5 min contraction marker.
