Default Insomnia

I've had insomnia for the last month or so (I was never a great sleeper to begin with) I fall asleep as soon as I go to bed around 10 and then wake up at 1 or 2 and I'm wide awake for HOURS!!!! I usually fall back asleep abt 5.30 then my alarm goes off at 6.40. *sigh* even at the weeknds I wake up around 7 and that's it I'm wide awake. This saturday after dh left for work I fell straight back asleep and didn't wake up til 11.20!!! I was so excited when I woke up and looked at the clock however sat nite and last nite I made up for it by getting absolutely no sleep at all!! I could have cried when my alarm went off this morning, I just feel so worn out. I know its very common in the last trimester but does it seriously last the whole way to the end?? I think ill crack up if it does!

On a brighter note dh and I are together 7 yrs today! Hard to believe. ( we'll be married a yr in may)

Oh that's rough!! This is the time when you really need the rest too I'm wondering if you take 1/2 a sleeping pill if that might help keep you asleep? Maybe your Dr. can help.

I feel fortunate right now that just having to tinkle wakes me up at night

And congrats to you and DH!!!

Angie is right, you should ask your doctor if there is something you can take. My doctor is always telling me I can take benedryl. I never have though. But also at the beginning of this pregnancy they told me I could take 1/2 a unisom (sleeping pill) at night to help with m/s. It did help VERY much but also helped me sleep better.
Congratulations on your "together" anniversary!

1st congrats on your anniversary!!! On the insomnia, I have always found that it gets really rough to get any good sleep during the 3rd trimester just due to being uncomfortable at night. My problem is that I'm getting up to pee about every 2 hrs and once I'm up I have a hard time going back to sleep. I usually do, but I hate it when I just laying there and my brain just starts going 90 to nothing. I would just mention your insomnia to your doc at your next appt to see if there is anything you can do or take to feel more rested. Good luck!!!

I've been getting this, too - I fall asleep on the couch - then when I get up to get in bed I can't get to sleep - or if I wake up I'm wide awake. I think it's my body getting used to being up for all those feedings...
Hope you can get some rest!

My doctor prescribed Ambien, which I haven't had to take in a month. It worked like a charm, but I was hesitant about taking it while pregnant. He assured me it was okay and that the benefits outweighed the possible risks. I was still never quite comfortable taking it though. I wish sleep would be easier during the last trimester since it is the last time we can get it before the newborn comes home. I get up several times during the night to go to the bathroom.

I have the same issue. I fall asleep at 10pm but I wake up at 1 or 2 and can't go back to see. It is so annoying.

I hope that your OB can suggest something.

Oh, that sounds terrible. Hopefully your dr. can give you something. I hate not being able to sleep but I have been lucky so far.

Congrats on being together 7 years!!
