Default He's Here!

My little man arrived at 10:18 am yesterday morning. Friday I just woke up not feeling right, and it got worse throughout the day. By 6 o'clock I was having severe chest pains. No contractions all day, just horrible pain in what turned out to be my upper GI. I called the after hours line and told them that I didn't think It was labor, because there were no contractions, just this aweful constant pain. The nurse told me to come in and get checked out just to see what was going on.

Dh and I arrived at the hospital at around 10:00 pm. They got me in a little room and checked me. i was still at barely 2, and my contractions were every 4-7 minutes, and I wasn't feeling them at all, so they agreed that it didn't seem like labor. My blood pressure was fine when I arrived too. The pain got so bad while I was there that i just started crying. They took blood and gave me something for heartburn, because they thought that maybe that was what I had. After that my blood pressure shot up really high, and my blood work came back, so a little after midnight they admitted me and told me I was going to have to be induced.

After that it all gets a little blurry. They had me on a bunch of diffrent drugs. I remember the Magnesium drip, to prevent me from sezuring, and a Pitocin drip to help start the labor, plus something for the pain that made me incredible loopy and tierd. Before they even started the pit they said I thought I was starting to labor on my own. My contractions were much more regular and I was starting to feel them. Thats when I think I fell asleep the first time. I slept for about 3 hours and when I woke up it was around 6? I think? everyone was rushing around me talking about how I was going to need a C-section. DH got the hospital outfit on. I was in massive amounts of pain, just kept asking for medication. My doctor came in and checked me out, he changed his mind and said he thought we could try to do it vaginal. I was dilated to I think 7 at this point.

Dh took his outfit off, and I got my epidural, witch made me feel sooo much better, but I was so numb I couldn't hold my own legs up, and I was still all loopy from the other drugs. I kept falling asleep mid sentance and stuff. Anyways, around 10 I felt baby's head start to come down, and i yelled for the doctor. The doctor came over and checked me and baby basicly slid out. It took about 4 pushes. I didn't tear, no stiitches, that part went very smoothly.

Baby came out and wasn't making a sound. I was panicking, I think partly due to the drugs, but once they cleaned him up he let out a good yelp and I was okay. That whole morning is really very foggy. I remember visitors coming and going. I was not alloud to eat or drink or sit up for a few hours. Miserable. My chest pain returned and I was crying about it, so they did more blood work. I had toximia I guess? My liver enzymes were unbalances and my platelt count was really really low. Anyways. Tristan is healthy and fine and I am working on being healthy and fine. Finals are tomorrow, and It doesn't look like my chances of making it to them are very good. I'm still on the Mag drip, and still a bit out of it, so hopefully this post is relativly coherant. They should be taking the drip out soon, then i can shower at least.

Aislyn visited and was very excited about her brother.

Will post pictures probly ib a few days.

Congratulations!!! Sounds like things were rough, but yeah for not tearing or anything. When do they think you will be off the mag drip? Glad to hear Aislyn took to Tristan okay. You know, that is our choice for name if Ana turns out to be a boy, so I really like it. Will wait to see pics of your little guy. Sounds like you need some rest.

Congratulations on your baby boy! Sorry you had a rough delivery...I went through a similar experience with my 2nd boy. I ended up with HELLP Syndrome which is when your platelets drop and one of the symptoms is that severe upper gastric pain (which I had). You should ask your dr. if he thinks it was HELLP. I 'm so glad everything turned out OK. I know after baby was out, everything started returning to normal for me, so I'm sure you'll be feeling better in no time. Again, congrats!!!

Congrats and welcome little Tristan! Sorry it was not such a great experience, but it's over now. What happens about finals? Good luck with that!
