Had an appt. today....
I found out that I gained 11 lbs since my last appointment, bringing my total weight gain up to 28 lbs!!!!! I am sooooooooo disappointed in myself! I don't drink soda AT ALL, I generally don't eat sweets that often....it's gotta be those dang carbs! My DH and I walk about 2-3 times a week, but my midwife suggested that maybe I could start going to the gym and working out on the elliptical machine or something! He said, "No big deal though; just a suggestion..." Needless to say, I'm feeling grumpy now.
Everything else looks good though. I am measuring a little big for being 23 weeks along, but he said that wasn't a big deal. I go back in 4 weeks for my GD test and another ultrasound. I'm excited to see my baby girl again, but it makes me kinda nervous that he's scheduling me for another ultrasound so soon. I just had one four weeks ago! But he assured me that he just wanted to check on the growth of our baby. Sounds fishy. Then again, I've had 6 ultrasounds during this pregnancy so far....
After that though, my appointments switch to every two weeks!

Re: Had an appt. today....
Do you know why they are wanting to do so many u/s? Just curious.
Im sorry about the weight gain. I have my appointment tomorrow and Im pretty sure I will be up about 24 lbs. Its annoying but I keep reminding myself that I can deal with it after I have the baby. I have been able to lose it again after my babies so im sure you will too!
I gained 45 with my daughter and 43 with my son so im guessing that it will be about the same with this one too.
Since my contractions have gotten a bit better. (was having problems with them before)
I have been exercising a little bit as much as I dare. So hopefully that will help some.
We can go the post-baby shape up board after we have our babies and lose this weight together!

Re: Had an appt. today....
Thanks for your kind words, Megan and Jana! We will definitely have to join the post-baby shape up board together after we have our babies!
Megan, to answer your question:
I had my first 4 ultrasounds during week 5, 6, 7, and 8 of my pregnancy because my progesterone levels were low and they wanted to make sure the baby was growing despite my low levels. I was on all kinds of supplements just to try to get the levels up to where they needed to be. I finally had good levels at week 9. Week 12, I had an u/s just to check on baby's growth. And then had my most recent u/s at 19/20 weeks. I guess they are just keeping a close eye on me.

Re: Had an appt. today....
I wouldn't worry too much if your Dr. doesn't seem that concerned. I've always prided myself on having a super toned stomach and maintaining the same weight I've had since high school. Ever since I've become pregnant I've had to throw all that out the window. It's been hard seeing my body change so much, but at least I know it's all to a good cause! I think I'm going to go renew my gym membership that I haven't used in ages. We can maintain a healthy weight for our babies together!
Good luck at your ultrasound!

Re: Had an appt. today....
I think weight gain concern is the top one after the health of the baby. I watch other girls that I know personally go through a pregnancy and only gain 10lbs...while there's me topping at at least 30lbs! I'm nearing the 20lb mark so I'm right with you. I've noticed too that different body sizes will gain differently...like those that are slightly overweight will not gain for a while and then gain very little...while others who weigh less end up gaining a lot. Just make sure that no one tells you that you're gaining too much! It sounds like you're not going out and eating packs of candy at a time, so I wouldn't watch the scale. It's hard...but you'll have an instant weight loss of nearly 15-20lbs in the first few days after birth...although your stomach will feel like jello!

Re: Had an appt. today....
I know that the wt gain can be frustrating sometimes...I've gained nearly 20 lbs already myself and I am a couple wks behind you! I haven't read the responses here yet, so sorry if this is a repeat, but try to keep in mind that some of the weight gain is due to the uterus, breasts, fluid, placenta and baby...it's not all lbs you will be hanging on to after the baby is born! Just try and enjoy this time right now...not everyone has trouble dropping the wt pp either so you might have a super easy time with it.
Have fun seeing your little one again when the time comes. I know some people who get a quick scan at every appt- then others still who only get to peek once. It depends on the doc, the practice, the ins- lots of factors. I don't think that there is necessarily a concern- just what your doctor prefers. It's kinda cool I think to get so many sneak peeks of your daughter- you're lucky!

Re: Had an appt. today....
I have fought with weight issues all my life and know that it is very worrying BUT honestly if your doctor feels things are with in the "norm" I would try not to worry to much currently and just know that after the baby is here you can work on getting rid of any extra you may have.
Chin up girly!!! HUGS

Re: Had an appt. today....
I put on 30 ibs with my daughter, and left the hospital having not lost a single pound. I have no idea how that happond, but it was very depressing. Because of that i'm very worried this pregnancy abput being up even more then i already was. I definantly know where you're coming from.

Re: Had an appt. today....
Try not to worry. In my experience I don't tend to gain alot of weight after this point, because I run out of room to eat as much. Also when I had dd #1 I lost 15 lbs. overnight, and she was only 7.7. I promise after you have baby and get the ok, you'll be super motivated to lose it. Enjoy being able to gain tons of weight for a good cause.

Re: Had an appt. today....
Heidi try not to worry, it seems normal to gain more weight on one period and less on the other during pg. And about the u/s I already did 6 and next week will do my 20w one And nothing is wrong with this pg. Well as you know I'm from Brazil, and there they do u/s on every prenatal visit, I was worried because many friends were saying that here they do just 3, but my doctor has the machine at the office and does one on each visit, I'm really happy to see my baby at least every 4w

Re: Had an appt. today....
I know how you feel, but I agree with everyone else, dont beat yourself up over it. I started off at 104 and as of yesterday when I went in I weighed 127. As far as U/S, I also agree with everyone else every doctor is different. With my first 2 pg's everything was perfect from beginning to end and I had one U/S with each of them. With my 3rd, I had lots of complications, that I cant even tell you how many U/s I had. After him I was considered high risk so with all my other pg's, I got quite a few U/S, and they paid a little closer attention to me. Its a bonus to see your precious one again and see how big they get.

Re: Had an appt. today....
I think everyone's experience w/ weight gain is different - just try not to worry about it now - just try to say fit & eat what your body needs. It will be ok.
For me -I gain the standard 30-32lbs. then I go right back to my usual weight a month or 2 after baby, then I have to eat like crazy to keep up w/ bfing - boy, can that make you hungry!
That is a lot of u/s but things are looking good so try not to worry & enjoy!
