My iron has dropped again and is really really LOW!!! The iron stores are sitting at 5 and they like them to be at 15 (at the very lowest). And the other number has fallen too.....ARG. They have upped my supplement tab and they will draw it again most likely my next appointment to see if it changes it.

I am starting to worry as the tabs have NEVER helped. I have told them this many times but they always make me try them before trying other options. I knew this was going to get complicated.....I have had major iron issues before my PG due to my gastric by-pass but it seemed to be low but manageable.....but this little one is taking everything I have.

I guess we have to hope this works as I have found out the injections are extremely expensive and I am not sure I have the funds to cover it. They are a min of $500 and go up from there.

Oh gosh, I know that is not the news you were hoping to hear. Hopefully, upping the supplement will help. Are you also trying to eat a lot foods rich in iron? Does that seem to help at all?? Good luck with the new dosage. My fingers are crossed that your numbers come up without the injections.

Thanks.....it does and it doesn't as the issue is I do not absorb very much from food or supplements..... As part and parcel of the by-pass - I do not have that part of the intestine that you need to do the absorption. It causes all kinds of challenges. I am on B12 injections (those are supper cheep and easy - I do them my self LOL) as my body simply can not pull it out of the food or supplements enough.

I am happy I had my GB as I lost 180lb and had maintained my weight for 2 years before getting PG (I am 4 years post op). So it was a great choose but days like today it frustrates me.....BUT in the end its all worth it.....just hard in some ways is all.

wow that is low! Funny , they called me today and said mine was low at 11.6,... but i saw on my docs website... the normal range is 12-like 15. Hed like me to take iron...but I am a little iffie... for me... IT causese constipation! AND I am having problems already.... so i am not sure i will... for like.4 points.... lol

But enough abotu me. lol this is your post. And your is low. whew. I hope you can get it to go up!
