Follow up on the 'comments' thread...

Has anyone said something 'off the cuff' to you this pgcy yet?

The one that comes to mind for me is I was visiting a lady for business purposes that dh built a fence for (hes a fence contractor) and she thought I was having our first child...

I said "oh its #4 for us actually"

she said "Doesn't that husband of yours have a mother that tells him about BIRTH CONTROL??!"

(ok side note...but why would my dh need to be the one knowledgeable about b.c.??? LOL!)

I very nicely said "actually my mother in law just suddenly passed away...and ... all 4 of our children have not only been 'planned' but we had infertility issues to get pregnant will each of them' and smiled.

she IMMEDIATELY softened and said "oh thats WONDERFUL I hope you get to have many more" LOL! I think she felt pretty bad

WOW thats awful but you had a wonderful come back.
I have had my share of rude comments myself with this pregnancy. I posted one awhile back how basically she said poor me for having another boy and if she were to get preg again and its a boy she would get rid of it. Then someone ask if we plan to have more and I said probably not but we plan on adopting from China. Then she said why China because she would look white lol. I said really thanks for letting me know that. People are so stupid.

The only comment I've really had up to this point is OMG! You're so tiny! How far along are you? 5 mos? And when I say 35 weeks, they get shocked all over again, saying Your so tiny! Like I didn't wish I was bigger. ha

I've had a few, nothing that bad though. You had a great come back comment though. I hate it when people just assume things. It really does make them look so silly.
I've been getting a lot of gender comments though. Like when they find out we are having a girl, they say, "Oh good! One of each, now you don't have to have anymore!" Why do people always assume that when you have one of each gender that it means that you are finished having kids!?

Good come back. I just love it when people take it upon themselves to tell you "HOW" many children you should have. My fav one is when people tell me ...you know what causes pregnancy right?? I'm like no, i missed that day in class:-)

i guess i agree people can say silly things. lol I mean this time around i work from home... dont really get out too much. SO, I have been lucky.But with ds. man it was annoying... people always assume they need to tell you about how motherhood is going to be. lol (with your first anyway) I hope when i have this baby people wont assume that I dont know what i am doing...since i have one already

What a great come back you had! I just get alot of people look at my kids (they are 20 months apart) and then me and say very sympatheticly "Guess you'll have your hands full huh?" or the ever so nice, "better you then me".
