Flu or Food Poisoning
HOLY MAN.....I was so happy and "thought" I was going to make it through my PG without getting sick. OH HOW WRONG I was. I am not sure if it’s the flu or food poisoning but I have been up since just after 2am sooooo very sick.
I have those extremely bad tummy / intestine cramps and grabby pains. I have been running to the bathroom every since and have a low grade fever. I have been sooo cold and can not get warm and feel soooo horrible.
I am trying to drink some water and have some soda crackers as I am so scared to having anything else but I can not afford to loose any more weight either....AGR. I know there is nothing left in my system yet I still am having issues....where does it all come from.....holy man. I hope this passes soon.
Can you take anything while PG to help?

Re: Flu or Food Poisoning
Sorry you're feeling sick...sounds more like the flu especially since it's lasted so long wtih a fever and chills too....would you have any meds left over from m/s(if you had m/s earlier in pg)? Those are probably the only thing that would be good to take. TMI, are you having diarrhea or just vomitting?

Re: Flu or Food Poisoning
Dawn Marie - I have both BUT there has been nothing in my tummy sooo I have been dry heaving. The diarrhea is the worst I have ever had it......I have gone so much and sorry way to TMI but it is more like a water consistency then anything else.....I get such intense pains when I go too....its horrible.
I truly have NOT been this sick in years....this is horrible. Even water is hurting my tummy....holy man.

Re: Flu or Food Poisoning
My doctor gave me some paperwork that has a list of things you can take for different problems.
This is what it says for the problems you are having....
Fever: Tylenol, E-S Tylenol. Call the office for a temperature over 101 degrees.
Nausea &Vomitting: Emetrol, Vitamin B-6 with 1/2 unisom, Accupreg braclets, phenergan, or reglan (perscription only) Drink sips of liquids (like Gatorade) to prevent dehydration. Call the office if you cannot keep any fluids down for 24 hours.
Diarrhea: Kaopectate, donnagel, immodium-AD or lomotil.
It certainly cannot hurt for you to call them and let them know how sick you are. You dont want to get dehydrated b/c it effects the baby too.
I really hope you feel better very soon!!

Re: Flu or Food Poisoning
Amanda, I am so sorry you have this. Earlier in my pregnancy I got something like that and absolutely could not keep anything down. Not even ice chips. I was having it at both ends too. Even w/nothing in my tummy, I was heaving. After a whole day & night of agony, I called my OB the next day. He called in Zofran for me. I seriously never take any meds while pregnant (not even Tylenol) but I took one of those pills and it was my saving grace. W/in a 1/2 hour, I was able to keep crackers and Gatorade down. It was the only thing that saved me. I only had to take one pill. I hope you find something that works. I know what a nightmare that illness is. (((hugs)))) and healing vibes.
