Okay, so I'm wondering what your OB's/Midwives have told you to count. I have never been told to count kicks, and I found the article very interesting, however - it says that in the third trimester, baby should move 4-5 times per hour but also says that it shouldn't take 2 hours to feel baby move 10 times. A bit contradictive, unless I'm misunderstanding...

So, my question is -- what should we be feeling?!?! I know my little one is VERY active anyway, but this is good information that my OB has not discussed in my previous pregnancies.

Thanks for sharing!!!

It is kinda confusing, huh! I looked all over the internet at different sites just so I could understand it better.

The baby should be moving atleast 4-5 times every hour BUT we often don't notice because we are moving around and/or not paying attention.

Now about the 2 hour thing......if you're doing kick counts you usually do them right after you've eaten a meal or during a time in the day when your baby is most active. While laying on your side, paying close attention to your baby's movements, you should feel atleast 10 movements in 2 hours. Most of the time, you'll count those 10 movements within the first 10 minutes or so.

Hope that helps a little!

ah well i got to say i do count...not 4 to 5 times a day! lol I mean if I feel movement in a day I feel fine... I usually feel it certain times of day. I got to say though with Stone I HARDLY felt any movement EVER....(although you wouldnt guess that cause he doesnt sit still) BUT I mean I guess I would worry a drop in movement with this one cause I feel him But I dont overly worry about movement.

Interesting page. I haven't been specifically keeping track - but I might try it this evening during baby's 'busy time'.

At my 24w ap my doctor told me to look for regularity on the baby movements, and that if it seemed different to call... and said that from my 28w ap he would start me on the kick counting... that said the baby movements feels regular, not the same every day but pretty similar, so I'm happy with it
