Colette's birth story
Sorry for not posting earlier, things have been busy!
I was scheduled to be induced on Tues May 29 but I was toying with the idea of canceling it because I really wanted to go into labor on my own and NST and BPP were all going well. I wasn't due until the 31st, but I had been 4cm dilated for a few days and was just praying things would happen before Tuesday. I woke up once in the middle of the night (Sun/Mon am) with a slightly painful contraction but nothing happened after that. Then I had a few uncomfortable contractions in the morning but by noon they totally stopped. We had plans with my family to go to beach, so that was what we did. I took a short run on the beach with my kids around 3:30 and that was all it took, contractions every 10 min. We stayed at the beach and had dinner around 6:30 and by then they were stronger, every 7 min and I had bloody show so I told dh we should head home and get the kids to bed and call his mom to give her a heads up.
Got home, got the kids to sleep (we told them that they might wake up to a new baby!) By that time my contractions were every 3 min and very intense so we headed to the hospital. I was admitted around 9:45pm and my ob came and checked me, I was only 6cm which was crazy because it didn't feel like 6cm, I felt like I was nearing transition so I decided to labor on my hands and knees for a bit to get the baby in better position to dilate my cervix. I labored for about 40 min like that when I began shaking and vomiting at the tail end of each contraction. It was then I knew I was getting close. My nurse called the ob and he checked me, my water was bulging and I was 8cm so he broke my water upon my request (I was in so much pain I just wanted to have her lol) and about 7 minutes later I was ready to push. I was able to deliver on my side which was awesome, so much more comfortable than laying on my back, and she was out in 4 pushes, about 3 minutes! It was just as I had prayed for, no induction, no epidural, no iv antibiotics (I had a hep lock), labored/delivered exactly how I desired, and no tearing/stitches. Colette was 8 lbs even and 20 in and born almost 2 hours after arriving at the hospital, such an awesome birth! She and I are doing well and my other kiddos adore her.
