We arrived at the hospital at 5am Monday morning for a scheduled induction. Around 6, we got back to our L&D room and I got my IV for fluids started. The nurse checked me, said I was totally effaced, but only 2.5 dilated!! I was kinda bummed since my Dr had told me I was a "good 4" at my last appt. Pitocin was started at 6:40am and my dr came in at 7am. She checked me again and confirmed that I was a 4-5cm dilated. I guess the nurse had giant fingers or something.

Dr broke my water at 7am and contractions started almost immediately. She said I could get the epi any time I wanted, but for some dumb reason, I decide to experience my labor for a while. I know....I'm crazy.

After an hour and a half of bad contractions, I was more than ready for the epidural. I was scared because with my 1st son, my epidural was paced and removed 3 times and never worked. This time, though-- it was maaaaagic!! After getting the epi, I was able to labor comfortably and happily and visit with my family. It was so nice!!

At 12:ish, I was 10cm dilated, but couldn't push bc my dr was in a c/s. I was feeling TONS of pressure through my bottom and getting agitated. I knew my baby was posterior from my last u/s, and bc of the pain through my back, but it was different than my last baby. Not sure how, just different feeling. My dr told the nurse to go ahead and let me start pushing. 30 minutes later, the dr came in. Poor DH was trying so hard not to look while I was pushing, but when they started saying you could see his head, he had to look. It was emotional. My mom, Adam, 1 nurse and 1 doctor were all that were in the room. I could feel him in my stomach while I could feel his head in the birth canal. It was surreal. The dr told me he was actually rotating from sunny side up to face down IN the birth canal. Yay baby yay!! After a total of 1 hour and 1 minute of pushing, Cohen Audio was born!!!

He had alot of fluid in his lungs, but his apgars were 9/9. I had to be repaired, as I had a 2nd degree episiotomy, with some internal tearing and I also had to have 1 stitch in my urethral-somethingortheother. All in all, it was a good experience, especially compared to my first labor and delivery!! He weighed 8lbs 2oz, 19.5 inches long. He has dark hair, but blonde eyebrows and eyelashes!!

We left the hospital yesterday, and he weighed 7lbs 10oz. I'm still waiting for my milk to come in, but he's nursing like a champ. I'm so tired, because he has his days and nights mixed up, but when he does sleep, Id rather stare at him than sleep!!

Big brother Laki is so excited, He wants to touch his face and hold his hands and thinks his teeny feet are the most amazing thing!

Sorry this is so jumbled, but I'm functioning on very little sleep and hormones!

Awww. How sweet and what a great birth story...well with the exceptions of the tears...ouch!!! I'm so happy to hear that you had a positive experience and your epi worked this time. You have a beautiful family and Cohen is just too precious. TFS your story and pics!!!
