Childbirth classes
My OB mentioned childbirth classes to me yesterday when I had my appointment. I'm wondering...1) Have you or will you attend childbirth classes, and 2) What's your recommendation as far as type of class (i.e., bradley method, lamaze, etc). Thanks for your help!

Re: Childbirth classes
i went with stone for a day..it is a waste of time. We did lamaze i think... although i am not sure of what the other method you said. They only think i liked about it is that you find out about the hospital... and where to go when it is time... And you get to see the rooms you will be in. (a tour )
Otherwise...waste of time. lol

Re: Childbirth classes
I took Lamaze with my first and loved it. It was so informative. I think it depends on your instructor. We will be taking it again this time, because this is Bens 1st and it's a great bonding time. Also they suggest that you take it again if it has been longer than 5 yrs. and it will have been 8.

Re: Childbirth classes
I can't say I learned a lot, but I guess it was an interesting experience. I also took a 3 hr. bfing class that covered all the same stuff I had read. I enjoyed the tour of the l&d floor a lot more. I don't plan on a class, but I should remember to ask my Dr. if there have been any big changes in procedure or at the hospital since 04.

Re: Childbirth classes
I too, can't say I learned a ton, but it was interesting and good for DH to learn some stuff.
Like someone else said, it was also nice to get a tour of the hospital, so we knew what to expect.

Re: Childbirth classes
I did Lamaze with my 1st and ended up having a c-section because Kaden turned breech at 38 weeks. Go figure. I think Dh got more out of it than I did. I had a v-bac with Kensley and did not take any classes. However, my labor was super easy. I think I was in labor for about 8.5 hours and I also got an epi. I thought I handled it very well and will not be doing any classes this time around since I know what to expect for both types of deliveries.

Re: Childbirth classes
My doctor strongly recommended I take a class because I may not be able to have an epi (I had a spinal fusion at 16 due to scoliosis). Talk about scary for a first preganacy.

Re: Childbirth classes
We took several classes that our hospital offers for free when we were pg with my ds. Classes like, "What to Expect During Labor and Delivery", "All About C-Sections", "Breastfeeding" and one other one I believe. We also paid money to take a seperate Lamaze class which both dh and I thought was a complete waste of money and time. This time around I've signed up for the BF'ing class as a refresher because I was unable to bf ds and a class for my DS called, "A New Baby is Coming" which teaches him what to expect when a new baby comes home.
