Icon5 To change or not to change..

that is the question...
My Dr says the 22nd of May... the last 2 U/S I have had both say May 26th. The Dr says they dont change the DD unless its more then a 10 day difference. I know its only 4 days, and I would love to be further along, I want to be right on So instead of being 18 weeks 2 days I am only 17 weeks 5 days. I switched my ticker...
Would you gals go with the Dr or the U/S?
P.S, my cycle isnt a 28 day cycle.

Well, I'll tell you about my 1st son...my 1st date was Oct 18th, by an u/s to find the about 10-12 wks or so they changed it to the 31st...by 19 wks he was measuring to the 22nd of Oct. The doc went by the 31st the whole time but I always went by the 18th because if I were to be due the 31st then I would have found I was pg at TWO WEEKS ALONG! I doubt that sooo....I just kept it the same in my head.

Guess what? He was born the 20th of Oct at 7lbs 12oz. He was ready and I guess he probably would have been no matter which of those dates I had gone by but I just knew that the 31st was a little off base. So, I guess my thought on it would be that you should go with which ever you feel is the correct date. If you are not sure then it won't hurt to go by the doc's new date (but I bet that you will always keep BOTH dates in mind! ). Either way the baby will come when he/she is ready...and if not and induction is an option then the difference in those dates might rear it's head once again...

I would trust your gut too. Last time, "my" due date (based on charting & temping) was 6/5. My Dr. changed my due date to 5/28 after the ultrasound, so I got all excited, my family was all prepared for the baby then. Then when she didn't come, my Dr. was asking if I wanted to be induced. I stalled him, and she was born naturally on 6/5! So, for me, I'd rather think it's the later date and be pleasantly surprised if he/she comes early. But definitely trust what you think. It is usually right!

With your cycles being off -- it could be anytime! They are basing this babies d/d on the first couple of u/s they did because my cycles are SO off....I'd be 4-5 weeks further along if we went by last period. Early u/s are pretty accurate, and they came up with that same date for your second u/s, as well....I'd say they are probably closer than going with your last period/OB...

My first was 4 weeks early and still 7 pounds, 8 ounces -- and we knew those dates were very, very accurate! The u/s was ALWAYS right on!

yeah, the earlier u/s's are more accurate. Dr says that I'm due in April going by my LMP...but the u/s's and from what I know when I ovulated, I'm due May 4th... Plus I wouldn't want to be pushed into an induction for being overdue when I know that my due date is later than what they're telling me. I never have 28 day cycles so I know that I can't go by what the calculators tell me...and to add on a few days.

I'd probably go with the later DD too...If not, then you will start getting very anxious as the earlier date approaches. And if you tell people the earlier date, and then make it to the later date you'll be sure to get lots of "you haven't had the baby yet" type comments too.
That being said, we were very sure of my true DD with my first pregnancy b/c I was on fertility meds, but she was actually born on her u/s due date (5 days earlier than the actual dd). This time around I was not on meds and my cycles are crazy, crazy irregular so I have nothing to go by but the u/s. I am anxious to see if this second one agrees with the first, but either way I know the first u/s is probably the most accurate.
All in all 4 days really doesn't make much of a difference...but when it comes down to "show time" you might feel better thinking of yourself as due on the later date. 3 days early always sounds better than 1 day late to a woman who is 9 mos. pregnant!!!

I say go w/ the date that feels right to you. It really is hard to say which is likely to be closer. I measured ahead by 3 or 4 days at my u/s but I'm sticking w/ my original edd.
