Default Carseat inspection

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to go for a carseat inspection to make sure the seat is installed properly? Does Babies R Us do them?? I went to a website the other day, but it didn't list a single place that was anywhere near us.

Most fire stations and police stations do them for free. Sometimes they even have events and encourage everyone in the area to come and have their carseats checked out.

Our state police does them but I have heard terrible things about them. I went to a car seat seminar last year and they suggested going to the Department of Health to get it done. There is one woman there who only does the inspections. I think you can go to Home | SeatCheck.org to get a location near you.

We have a couple certified technicians at a few of the local fire stations. You have to be careful, because not every fire station has someone who is certified to inspect it. I took my ds's to a local fire station and had them inspect it and help me install it when I was pregnant with him. This time we just did it ourselves. We've gotten pretty good at it over the past few years I think, lol.

Unless you know for sure, these places have CERTIFIED techs, please don't go there! In our city (largest in the state) there are few cops (none in this city) and pretty much no firemen that are certified. If you ever stop to get your seat checked and aren't sure if people are certified, feel free to ask for their name and number so if nothing else, you can check when you get home on the Safe Kids list. Another place besides the link above is the Safe Kids site. https://ssl13.cyzap.net/dzapps/dbzap...AFEKIDSCERTSQL

I know at our Babies R Us they had one last month that I missed and then the lady that schedules the events is on maternity leave, so they won't be having one for awhile. I was told to go to a fire station, police station or to call Highway Patrol and that someone should be able to do it for me. I'll have to check out those links though.

mmm interesting...those seats are so hard to install... I was so glad when ds went to a booster. lol We have the latch system in the car.... and i think the graco safe seat actually has a level on it... sort of neat. So, we should be okay installing it. Wouldnt it be nice if they had someone at the hospital that was certified to check it before you left. Part of check out.??? not so lucky. lol

The problem with those websites is that they don't list any places that are even remotely nearby, which makes no sense given that I live in a large city. I will give the police and fire stations a try, keeping in mind that I need a certified technician. Thanks girls!
