I didn't know this, so I thought I would share the information. Hopefully none of you will ever need to know this, but still...
Last week I ran to the grocery store to grab a few things, and as I was leaving I got into an accident. I backed out of my spot, and the girl across from me didn't see me and backed right into the back passenger door of my car. Thankfully, Julian was not in the car, but his carseat was.
So the car is probably going to be totaled out, and my door didn't open for a few days, but now it does. The insurance company has decided the other girl is 100% at fault, which I knew, but am glad to hear.
Anyway, since the carseat was in the car, federal law requires that it be replaced, and I have to add it to the estimate. Thankfully my sister told me about this, otherwise I would never have known. So I guess it means a new carseat for Julian! The other one lasted me a total of 2 1/2 weeks. Long time, huh? Good, I hated it anyways
I am so glad the baby wasn't in the seat! Yes- you are right- if a seat is in an accident you should replace it.
Car accidents stink but it is a good thing if no one was injured.

The day you deliver, outside will be warm. Your baby will arrive in the evening. After a labor lasting approximately 5 hours, your child, a girl, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 8 pounds, 15 ounces, and will be 17-1/2 inches long. This child will have blue eyes and dark hair.
the insurance will cover the car seat Also though.... Babies r us has a plan that yu can purchase with the car seat too..... (which my mother got for me ) So, you can get new too if it is damaged or in an accident. Really nice feature. But most definitely the insurance company will pay for a new one too.
Yep! That's why they say a carseat is one thing you should never buy secondhand, since you don't know if it's been in an accident. So glad to hear that no one was hurt. Have fun picking out a new one!
Sorry to hear about the accident. What carseat did you hate?
The carseat I hate is the evenflo discovery 5. It's too big to fit right in my backseat, and too bulky for me to carry. That's why I leave it in the car, I just take him in and out of the seat while it's strapped into the car. I'm kind of happy the insurance company will pay for another now, I can find a seat I like better!
I'm so sorry about the accident, but I'm so glad you are okay. Yes, definitely replace the carseat. It's very important! Hope you find one that you really like this time!
Lurking... My SIL had an Evenflo Discovery too and hated it! She was so grateful when it got recalled and could talk her DH into another! (not sure if it was the ED5 tho)
Glad you can get another!

Yikes! I'm glad he wasn't in the car with you. We were in an accident in July, both the kids were in their seats, but the car didn't get wrecked anywhere near them (all the damage was on the front driver's side and the tail light on the same side). We still had to replace the carseats, but we kept the other ones for dh's car since he didn't have any, and he hardly ever has the kids with him anyway.
