Default Buying nursing bras

I have read so much conflicting information about nursing bras. When should I buy one? Should I buy one now or wait until after delivery? Should I buy my current size or should I buy one cup size larger? Some websites say I should buy a cup size larger than my current size to accommodate milk coming in, but other websites say that the increase in size is only temporary and will go down once my milk stabilizes. BTDT moms - what's been your experience??

My experience has been to wait til my milk is established and use nursing tanks before that. I went from a C during my first preg to a DD when milk was coming in then down to a D once it was established. I never got that C back, and stayed in D afterwards. With my second and third, I went up to over a DD with milk coming in, then down to a DD with milk and when finished to a D again. So it is very hard to say. When milk first comes in it can also be very uncomfortable if you do not have the right sized bra on, so I stick to my tanks with built in bras, for comfort sake.

Yep, its really confusing and I am a BTDT Mom! LOL I haven't decided what I am going to do yet. Whether to wait or buy after delivery. I did buy a Nursing Sleep Bra that is lined. That will give me enough coverage at home and hold nursing pads.

I would suggest waiting to your milk comes in and then getting measured for the correct fit. I had a huge jump with my 1st child and everything I brought prior to his arrival was to small once my milk came in. With my second child I did not have that much of an increase, but still got remeasured after my milk came in. So, long story short, I''ve brought a couple of sleeping bras this time around and will get my day time nursing bras once my milk comes in. HTH!!

It's been different this time for me - I went up 2 cup sizes so I bought early this time. Previously I waited until I was nursing & used a lot of stretchy bras before.
I think you just have to play it by ear.

I think I'm going to take everyone's advice and just get a couple of sleep bras for now. The nice thing about those is that the cup size is a range, rather than one specific size. But, how do I know which band size to get? I was a 34 to 36 pre-pregnancy, but now I'm a 38. Should I buy a 38 or go down to maybe a 36? I read somewhere that your rib cage tends to shrink back after delivery, so this is why I'm asking. Thanks everyone!

Once you deliver, it takes a bit for things to go back down. Basically think of yourself as looking about 5 months preggo. I would play it safe with a 36-38, as you can always bring it in tighter if needed. Maybe get a three clasper, where you can tighten it as you lose the water weight.
