Bladder Infection?
Ok this might sound like the delerious ramblings of a pregnant woman...but today I have been feeling really bad - tired, nauseated, shaky, really out of it. I've been having what I thought were random painful contractions, but its almost like one big cramp that sort of lasts for long periods of time. I constantly have to pee, and nothing, seriously nothing, comes out. I was going to go to L&D just to get checked tonight but after my last bathroom break I was like duh, I wonder if its just a bladder infection! I don't usually get them so I'm not sure exactly how they feel but I know they are common in pregnancy. Has anyone had one? Does this sound like one? Oh and my lower back is achy too.

Re: Bladder Infection?
It does sound like it could be a bladder/UTI infection. When you do go to the bathroom does it burn or hurt??? I've had several UTI's in the past and you do have the constant feeling of needing to pee. I would call your doc to just be on the safe side. Hope you get to feeling better soon!!

Re: Bladder Infection?
I've had so many UTIs that I actually have home testing kits stored in my med chest. They have them at the drugstore, but I would see my doc as soon as possible because UTI or kidney infection is no joke while you are pregnant.

Re: Bladder Infection?
Ya, I think better safe than sorry when dealing w/ infections in pg. I'm going to go into labor and delivery tonight and find out what is going on. I know that sounds weird but its easier for me to do that than to try to make a random appt tomorrow and find someone to watch my kids, etc. Besides, I think every pregnant woman deserves about 5 trips to the hospital before birth and I have only used one so far this pg

Re: Bladder Infection?
Glad you are going in -- I have no experience w/UTI's -- but to me, that sounds like it could also be the early signs of labor. I have the feeling of constantly having to use the restroom, but I usually have to try to move baby around for anything to come out. I think the lower they are, the more they are blocking the flow...also, the back pain can be labor related as well!!
Keep us posted and good luck!!

Re: Bladder Infection?
Could be a UTI. My kidneys always hurt when I got them. Thankfully this pg, none so far. But the having to pee and nothing coming out is a big sign too!
Good luck! No harm calling your OB for them to get you an antibiotic....

Re: Bladder Infection?
My bladder infections suck. Starts with pangs down there, more or less cramping, but pang like. Then only a bit of pee each time, and burning and itching while peeing. It is like a constant tug. Mine go quickly, bc of a narrow urethrea, into full blown probs with blood instead of urine. Keep an eye out for that, bc it can get bad quick if it is an infection. Best of luck at L&D tonight. I hope you find some relief!
