icon16 Been Thinking about Baby Carriers...

Bare with me for a moment while I talk about what's been on my mind lately, lol.

Ever since it was brought up here a few days ago, all I've been thinking about is baby carriers and doing lots of research on them. I've changed my mind several times about what I like or don't like. I *think* I have it narrowed down now.

First I registered on TheBabyWearer.com to find out about all different types of slings/carriers. Then I found a local store that sells some of the carriers and went and checked them out today. I'm SO happy I did! I learned so much!!

I now know for sure that I want to either buy or make a Moby Wrap. I didn't think I would want one at first because there seems to be SO much fabric, but at the store today the lady there said it was her absolute favorite carrier for when her son was an infant. She even showed me how to use it and it was a lot less intimidating seeing it in action. So this is on my list of must haves now. If anyone knows of a good online resource where I could get instructions on how to go about making one that would be wonderful!!

I also checked out the Ergo carrier while I was there. I really want a carrier like this for when baby is older and ready to ride on my back. Loved this as well!! Super easy to use and put on.

But I also found these online, Beco Baby Carriers. The 4th Generation and Butterfly models are made just like the Ergo's, but they come in really cool patterns!! How fabulous!! So I *think* I'm leaning more towards this one now because it is so similar to the Ergo, but I can get more than just the canvas fabric on the traditional Ergo. But I will have to talk to dh about it because he may be wearing the baby as well and he probably won't want to wear a pretty fabric as opposed to a nice solid color. So we'll see.

I've also been thinking a lot about strollers and diaper bags, but that's a whole other topic. I think I'm just avoiding working on pictures at the moment. Too much work to do and not enough motivation, lol. Baby Brain is taking over, lol.

I agree the Moby wrap looks intimidating! I have and Ergo and LOVE it! We retired our Baby Bjorn after our ped said they didn't recommend it because it can do damage to the hips and spine if in it too long. I was taking 2 walks a day with Kate in the Bjorn and she started to get uncomfortable in it too. Switching to the Ergo was like a dream and really felt like I wasn't even carrying a 15 pound baby anymore!I still wear Kate in mine and although she is fine riding on my back, I still prefer to wear her on the front of me - even though it's getting tougher to do. I am actually going to buy the extender for the waist because mine is now as loose as it goes. I also want to get the infant insert. I do have a sling from Baby Slings by Slinglings. Stylish Comfortable Easy Pouch Baby Sling. BUY 2 get the 3rd FREE! that I use when the baby is tiny. She lets you pick the fabric too.

I have a friend who has a Beco and it is similar but the straps are like a Moby wrap and they are long. I do love that you can pick your fabric, though! They have neat patterns.

Good luck choosing!
