Bed / Matress pad HELP
Greetings,
I need some advise and help from you wonderful ladies
My DH notice after the first night here that his lower back was killing him....I just teased him and told him he had not had that much of a work out in months .....LOL....but it seemed to get worse as the days passed. We both thought about it and last time he was up his lower back was really bad too.....BUT at home in Cali he has no issues (now down there we have an awesome bed - not so much here). So now we are thinking that LOTS of my sleep issues and bad bad back are coming from the bed we have here and not so much from my PG yet that is. He wants me to shop around and find a "good" pad or something to put on the bed to help BUT I am at a total loss.
I have a cheepy egg carton type now....and well its not working....LOL So does anyone have ANY suggestions on type, kind, style? Any suggestions would be truly helpful....I am just so lost and we do not have lots of money to be trying all kinds of them....I know the good ones are expensive so if I can get away with only buying one it would be most helpful.
THANKS so much in advance for you help and advise.

Re: Bed / Matress pad HELP
We need a new mattress here, too. I don't know if any kind of mattress pad could make much of a difference. Let me know if you find something, I could use it, too!

Re: Bed / Matress pad HELP
Oh, we just got a 3 inch memory foam for Christmas from the IL's...and so far it's a dream! Our mattress is as old as the hills! Not even sure how old it is since we bought it from a resale shop 6 years ago! I think we're used to the crappyness of it, but the IL's(when they babysat DD last year slept on it) said it was horrible! The one we got is a Novaform by Sleep Innovations but I'm sure any type of good quality memory foam might help. It might be an option for you.

Re: Bed / Matress pad HELP
I would try a memory foam mattress pad. We don't have one but I know some people who do and they love it!

Re: Bed / Matress pad HELP
I have heard that the memory foam pads are good.
We just gave up and bought a good mattress since ours is horrible. We went cheap and now we are paying for it. I can't wait for the new mattress!

Re: Bed / Matress pad HELP
I think a memory foam pad is your best bet. My parents have one in their camper and it makes that cheap thin mattress feel pretty comfy (not great but its a camper). Hopefully you will only need it for a short time before sleeping on your good bed in Cali .

Re: Bed / Matress pad HELP
I agree that if you can't/don't want to invest the money in a great mattress, that the memory foam is probably your best option. If you go to mattress/bed store, you can lie on one to see how it feels to your back before you buy it. I know the Sealy or Serta mattress stores near us have actual memory foam mattresses that you could lie on to try out. Good luck!!

Re: Bed / Matress pad HELP
Awww....Thanks Ladies. I have started looking around and will be going shopping on Monday as I am off work. I just HATE to spend the money when I know we have an AWESOME bed at home but I just do not know how long I will be stuck here sooo I need to come up with something. We do not want or need to buy a second mattress if at all possible sooo this is the next best thing.
I am looking into the memory foam the only thing I do not like is that I have only found really thin ones and I do not think that will be enough....The web sites are very helpful.....THANKS again for all the advise.

Re: Bed / Matress pad HELP
Is there a Costco in your area? My MIL picked up a twin sized memory foam in town here (since she couldn't find it in her area)...and said she saw the queen size ones there too and was wishing she bought ours there since it was cheaper!

Re: Bed / Matress pad HELP
I understand..... I am going through my 2nd feather mattress right now... I would not really recommend feather mattresses they poke you and get flat quick ... I would say memory foam..... pregnancy is causing me terrible sleep problems to I am always uncomfortable!!!

Re: Bed / Matress pad HELP
Not sure if this will help or not but before DH bought our new matress we put a sheet of 3/4" plywood between our matress and box spring and that help to firm up our old crappy matress.

Re: Bed / Matress pad HELP
I shopped around like mad.....I found lots of different options but went with the memory foam I got a GREAT deal at coast co. I found a Novaform 3" thick pad for just over $100. Everything else I found was 1.5" thick for between $200 and $300 so I was sooooo excited to find it.
I slept on it last night as it needed a few days to puff up as its packed air tight. Did not sleep too well but I think it will be a few nights before I can tell for sure. Last night was probably not the best to try it. I hope it helps but at least coast co is good with returns.

Re: Bed / Matress pad HELP
That's the same one that we have...3" novaform...it took a few days for me to get used to it. Felt like I was sleeping on playdough at the beginning! But no problems now. The only complaint is from the kids...our bed doesn't bounce like it used to. LOL
