Default Assisted Caesarean!

Very interesting!

http://www.theage.com.au/news/nation...971419538.html

WHEN a baby is born by caesarean, the hands that lift it from the womb to the world usually belong to an obstetrician. But now, there's someone else who can help deliver the baby: the mother.

Called "assisted caesarean", the procedure allows the mother to be the first to hold her child, with her hands guided into the womb by medical staff. In what is believed to be only the third assisted caesarean in Australia in recent years, Perth mother Naomi Chapman, 38, helped deliver her third baby, Thomas, on April 2.

Wow, that is cool. Not sure if I could do it, but I think its neat that they let her do something like that instead of just saying no.

I wouldn't think its any different than catching your own baby. It sounds like she isn't digging around inside trying to find the child. The doctor kind of pulls the baby up.

I like the idea of Dad taking the baby out. That would be cool as long as its cool with Dad.

That is cool...I'd probably do it if given the opportunity. I love watching medical shows whereas Dh gets grossed out...he nearly passed out during the birth of DD cause he didn't expect to see blood...
