Almost 40 wk appt

EDD is 5/15, so pretty close to 40 weeks...

I am just about 6cm, 80% effaced, baby low and engaged.

Because of my history though (was 4cm for the previous two weeks), it still isn't clear that labor is imminent. OB is worried about size of baby (she measured 8 lbs about two weeks ago) and about having enough time to get in 4 hours of antibiotics for GBS, so we have a scheduled induction for this Friday morning. It feels good to have a date, but I'd still like to go into labor on my own (one reason I chose Friday instead of tomorrow, which was also offered to us). Just hoping it happens in the next 36 hours, lol!

Last time I was induced at 6cm as well, and the pain was instantly unbearable. I'd really like to experience a natural labor and some kind of contraction ramp up and see if I could go without meds. If I am induced, I will almost definitely be getting the epidural.

Whew, 6cm... sounds like once things get going it will be really quick. Best of luck getting her out before the induction date, and if not, than with the induction.

6 cm?? I agree w/ pp, once things start it shouldn't take long. Good luck - I hope things start naturally for you!!

I agree with you, an induced labor always brings on harder contractions... I hope things turn out he way you want them to!

wow! a 6!!! seems to me that the baby could just fall out! JK! I hope something happens in the next few hours and you get the labor you want! KUP

thanks guys! Part of me would LOVE to wait...even if just for an intellectual curiosity as to how far I could dilate before actually going into labor, lol! Perhaps I could get to 8cm

I'm not so worried about baby's size, as I had no problem delivering dd at nearly 9 lbs, but the GBS complications are very worrying, so that made the decision for us.

I'm hoping you will go into labor on you own - I understand about the induction making the epidural more likely! Labor vibes til Friday am!

Wow!!! A 6!!! That's awesome. I hope you do go on your own,but if not hey at least you will be all set for your induction date!! Good luck and KUP!!! Sending labor vibes your way!!
